im glad a few of you were actually reading my post correctly.

my parking brake is not working. had a recall done at infinity of pleasanton and i think they didnt adjust my parking brake after working on it. when i pull it all the way up, my car still rolls back. thus... the question being... will it be ok to only leave the car in gear when parked in an incline for a week.

anyway... im back and the car did not roll back. time to get the parking brake adjusted.

yes there is a way to adjust it...for my 03 6mt there is a nut and bolt under the ashtray...my ashtray is right behind the shifter console...i'm sure it's different in

newer models...you guys might want to change your brake pads first though...because later on when you change pads the distance you have to pull

the e-brake is going to be really short...so if you change your pads and the pulling distance is still to high then i would recommend tightening your e-brake...

Will leaving it parked in 1st gear for several days without the parking brake be alright?

I left my 91 Integra on a medium size grade once with no e brake and in first. It popped out of gear after like 2 hours of being parked and rolled into a tree! The worst part is I was outside cutting the grass and watched the whole thing go down. I was like “Um.. Holly $hit my car is rolling!” I ran over to it to stop it and grabbed the little factory spoiler and ripped it off. HaHa. Funny now, but I was so pissed!

So, No I never park my car without the ebrake!

I always use the parking break, just a habit I guess. Am I the only one?

that's terrible but funny at the same time. i always put it in 3rd and use the e-brake. so leaving it in 1st or R is better than any other gear because of the gearing if something did happen to fail and start rolling?

okay remove your ash tray and then just tighten the bolt that is in there...you'll need a deep socket for the nut

I have always let the car sit on the gear, and then use the e-brake for what it is for: in case of emergency. That way your car is using the tranny to keep the car in place, but have the e-brake to catch the car in-case it slips out of gear.

So when you park, put your car in first or reverse (depending on which way your car is facing on the hill) and once the car is stopped on the gear, apply the e-brake. And like others have said, if you yank the e-brake to where its almost vertical, you are going to make it less and less effective. Just apply what is needed.

Engage the parking brake first and then put it in 1st gear. Let the tranny be the backup just in case the parking brake fails.
Couldnt have said it any better... ^^ ++111 ^^
