first post: wanting to trade my STI for a G-coupe

Hey all, this is my first post, i've been a subaru driver since 2001 when they came out w/ the WRX, just over a year ago, I traded her in for a '06 STI. I dont want the STI anymore. power is crazy, but the ride is harsh and frankly, i dont want every joe schmo revving at me, i'm too old for street racing! (i'm 34).

So I decided that a G coupe is the way to go. nice looks, decent performance, luxurious. I've been lurking for a few days, just wondering what to look for in being a coupe. Price is a factor, would prefer '05+ coupe, but i'm not picking. seems as if the '03/04 hold up their value quite well, just like my STI. I dont want the '08, I just cant afford it, if I can get a new '06 G coupe for around what I paid for my STI (32K), keep the payments relatively the same, that would be sufficient.

I'll be looking around this weekend and hopefully I post more here soon w/ my new or used coupe.

I am sure you will like the change. You can find 03 coupes for low $20,000 and sometimes a little lower.

you can find a nice 05 coupe with about 30,000 mi. down for under 32k. i suggest you go for the 05 unless you find an 06 for cheaper but i dont think you'll find too many 06's for 32k under. Good luck

well i will just fill you in on what i have experienced so far. I drive alot on the interstate, i drive alot in the city. I put 29K miles on the car in 2006. Have not had any problems with the car to date. Only problem that i still have not got around to fixing is the axel clicking (which only occured in the 03s and 04s). The car has been great since the day i got it so i would highly recommend it. I can only imagine that the newer ones are alot better than my older 2003.

Anyways good luck with picking one out.

Look into the oil burning issues of the '05, '06 6mt's. You have to take most things on a forum with a grain of salt, but there is a thread or two about them burning oil and needing new engines.

located here in Tx, houston to be more specific. i've already decided on the G, now is more that i dont get too raped on either trading the STI or selling her outright. I still owe about 24K on her. prefer to get new, but i know i dont want to deal with a 30K+ car, would like to keep it around what i owe.

Your best bet is trying to find a leftover 06 model, but if you are looking for a 6mt that may be difficult. If you can live without the premium package, you can probably find a 06/07 6mt in the low 30k's, but add on premium etc and you are looking at mid 30k or so. There weren't any real changes between 06-07 except some added features to the basic package, which makes the premium package even less usefull since the bose system sucks anyways, so all you are really getting is a sunroof
