steering wheel vibrates

hey guys,

i have a 03 6mt... and ive noticed that my steering wheel vibrates more than my cousins 04 6mt when i drive his. only difference is that his is lowered. on some freeways, it vibrates more... i guess its cuz the roads are f'ed up, but on a freeway thats usually a smooth ride, the steering wheel vibrates a little, which is not normal to me. it is the damn tranny that causes it to vibrate like that? im wondering if its the damn steerin rack or something related to it.

i think you might need an allignment, steering wheel vibration is usually cause by the allignment being off..i think

Oh yeah and if you have nice rims with a lock nut ...... check to make sure that the other 4 lugs are still on. Friend of mine had a vibration problem right before his wheel flew off. Someone tried to steal his rims and couldnt get the lock lug off. Good luck

Could possibly be a bent rim as well. Be sure to look into that.

Just fixed my highspeed vibration in my steering wheel. It would vibrate around 77-80 mph. The tires/wheels were out of balance.

Start by visually checking the wheels/rims (free). Then balance the wheels ($20?). Alignment is more expensive. Do that only if balancing doesn't fix the issue.

yea its a balance...alignment doesnt affect how the wheel shakes, only how it is aligned lol.

if your wheels are balanced, and alignment in check but, it's still vibrating. it would be your hub bearings.

That's true...

I wonder why there's this general idea that you should check balance and alignment when the steering wheel vibrates...
