I figured that's how it was supposed to be. It is kind of weird though cause most car's aren't like that. Not sure about the hot/cold thing...gonna have to check that out.

hmmmm...pretty sure it open and close...the bmw thing youre thinking about goes up and down and its right between the middle two vents on the dash... as you press it up red dots increase from 1 to 3 to indicate heat, regardless of the climate control...as you push it down blue dots increase from 1 to 3 to indicate cool, regardless of the climate control (kinda counter-intuitive to having climate control IMO, always have hated it)... our cars.. X or ~, open or closed

i just tried this out just to make sure i wasn't hallucinating

lol its going from hot air blowing on you, to little to no air blowing..of course it is going to feel cooler...
in addition, when you are letting such a little amount of hot air through, it is going to cool rapidly, making it feel cooler...

its not the same as a bmw lol its open close

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if that wheel works or not but I want to confirm something with you guys. When I have my heater on and the car is idling, the heat does not come on. The fan blows in air from the outside so if it's cold outside I get cold air coming in. As soon as I start driving the heater kicks in and it gets hot. Now, when I hit a red light and stop for say 30 seconds, the heater will shut off after maybe 5 seconds and I get cold air blowing at me. Is that normal or do I have a problem? Up in Canada cold air is quite cold so I'm hot and then cold and then hot etc....and it's driving me crazy.

Thanks

I don't know why you should be having a problem, unless you're messing with manual settings and fighting the automatic climate control.
Your weather is no different from mine, and all I do is set the climate control to "AUTO A/C" at 23C and leave it alone completely. As soon as the engine warms up the fan picks up, then drops off gradually as the interior comes up to temp. Always comfy. The only time I touch it is if I want the defroster for a couple of minutes. Same in the summer - I just bump the temp to 24C (unless the sunroof is open).

I can't believe that this thread actually made me go out there and try it out. :-P

Like other said, it's just the sensation of not having hot air blown on your hand that makes you think there's cool air coming in.
