Angry WTF -- Complain of Second Gear "clunk" and now can't engage!

I went to stealership for a scheduled oil change and complained to 'my guy' that I keep hearing a nasty "CLUNK" noise when shifting into 2nd gear.

[By the way, has anyone else experienced this??]

Anyways, they gave me the car back and said that they have a TSB on the 2nd gear issue and that it called for switching out the tranny fluid to synthetic.

Now my driving experience is horrible. Sometimes (1 out of 3 times) I can't even get into first gear! People around me are looking @ me like I'm an **** for sitting at the green light so long. I've got the clutch pile drived into the floor board and am shifting into first and hitting a brick wall, backing back out into neutral and trying again and again. When I finally get into 1st, it feel like two pieces of rubber are rubbing really hard against each other and then POPPING hard into place (1st gear fully engaged)

The pressure I have to put on the gear shifter to finally get it into 1st, is way to forceful!!! It's ridiculous!

Sometimes, I experience the same w/ 2nd gear as 1st. It's like something is not aligned right? Maybe the "GUIDE PLATE" is off or something?????

THE REALLY WEIRD THING IS SOMETIMES IT TOTALLY GOES AWAY.
So basically, sometimes it's doing what I described and then other times it's totally fine. The exception is the CLUNK going into 2nd gear. That NEVER goes away!

I guess if I had to think about it, the warmer the tranny is (car being driven for a bit) the better this issue is, again except the clunk.

I've already called and told them this WILL BE RESOLVED!

What is the group's .02 on this?

Thanks Guys!

My tranny makes noise during shifting from 1st to 2nd. It sound "Cluck" while I force it in the second gear. I'll talk to service person in the next schedule. Hopefully, nothing major.

*Update

I'm taking the car in for the service tech's to take a look @ this coming Monday the 12th.

I'll post the results.

Man, you guys have me terribly worried ("Ah you'll get a new tranny"). I guess a new tranny would be good, but it's only got 23K on it....

By the way, is there ANY way to double check and make certain of the accurate mileage on a car other than the cluster?? I guess it's all stored in the ECU right? Hmmmm, I hope my car really does only have 23K on it, LOL!
That would suck if it was tampered with.

I had a similar issue after getting the 30k mile service. Difficulty shifting into 1st and 2nd, with gear whine, especially when the car was cold. However, it does not appear to be as severe as your experience. Dealer kept the car for a week. They did not say exactly what was done, but it seemed they were constantly changing the fluid, based on my conversations with the service rep. Final resolution appears to be different tranny fluid. If I remember correctly, they used 75w90 viscosity. There's still a slight whine with the current cold Northeast weather, but it goes away when the car warms up. It's been about 1k miles so far.
