Well to start off on a good note i have to say that my G35c is probably the best car i ever owned!! I love the car..and pretty much everything about it except one thing...I just dont think the car is fast enough!! Yeah I know,,I know your probably saying What the fck am i talking about right..but the car just doesnt have that kneck snapping power that i initially thought it was gonna have..but then i realized something and hear me out guys>...As you well know our car is based on the 350z platform so performance is pretty much identical right..and the 350z is the 300zx's predicessor (DUGH yeah i know) so why the hell did nissan build a car 7yrs later with the same exact performance as its old car, less even. The old 300zx TT had 300hp the new has 287???? Yeah i know the old z was turbo but arent we supposed to improve in the future??? The new Z and g35c both run 0-60 in (5.5,5.8,6.1sec,, depending on which magazine you believe)and the old 300zx twin turbo 0-60 in 5.5sec..Shouldnt they have at least made the new cars outperform the old even though they are naturally asperated??? I mean $hit i would have paid a few more grand for a g35 with a V8 or turbo!!!!! Anyway i think they should have at least targeted cars like the M3, AMG Benz and Vette's...at least get the 0-60 in the high to mid 4's and the 1/4 in the low 13's high 12's..I dont know what you feel but thats just me.....

They haven't released TT version of the 350z. I'm sure they will...
Wait for the TT to come out for our cars, and then I'm sure you will come to a different conclusion. If I'm not mistaken, our cars would rip the N/A 300zx off the road.

If you have the money to afford any of those cars you list, then you have the money to turn your G into a car just as fast if not faster.

I feel exactly where you are coming from. I just made 1300 miles on my car and it feels faster now that the car is broken in. The car just isn't fast enough for me, maybe it will get faster after 5000 miles. My dad has a stock 300zx tt, granted I haven't driven his car over 80mph yet, but his car doesn't feel that much faster if at all faster. I came from a BMW 540ia and that car had 285hp and 325tq and weighed 400 pounds more but when I floored it my head snapped back. I just don't get that from my G yet. I don't want to void my warranty to get that power. I hope Infiniti will approve of one of the various superchargers so I can get one and still keep my factory warranty. Overall I still love my G

Wasn't the reason that the old z cars become extinct because they became too expensive?? The new z (and g to some degree) is more about keeping costs down rather than upping performance.
With that in mind I think the performace is pretty good....

IT was designed to beat the BMW 3 series (not M3, different car), in speed, handling, size, and price, and it did nearly all of those.

These cars make their torque and horsepower at a higher rpm than the neck snappers you mention, this is why you don't get the neck snap from zero mph.

I agree and to add one more thing to this comment. Wait til you reach about 2k miles. It's different on every car so give or take a few miles. Overtaking speed at this piont is very nice to say the least. It feels like the engine is loose and it doesn't take much to effort to pass someone. The growl of the engine and pull of the car is different from when it was new. One thing about people is that some are to impatient they want it right away. Sometimes you just have to wait for it it will come.

Now that mine has about 6k miles on it, and some mods-- Borla exhaust, Crawford Plenum, Intake, it's performance is quite impressive. The biggest drawback with our engine is the lack of torque down low. Once the engine gets into its power band (above 3k rpm), it's great.
Now that forced induction is added to the equation, that will help that problem.

The 540i or an M3, comparably equipped, are $15-20k more than the G or the Z. There are few cars under $50k that will come close to matching the performance of the G/Z, and they have even less neck-snapping torque (e.g., WRX, EVO, S2000, RX-8). Wait a few years and you'll see the GT-R which will probably come with Nissan's V-8 and AWD system.

All i can say is that its a "Luxury" sports car. Most luxury cars that are fast are built to be somewhat smooth. In the G35's case, you just don't feel much of the speed but if you look at the speedometer, it's definitely shooting up in the RPM's. But when i got this car, i thought i would feel the speed more too. I felt more of a kick in my TL-S from sitting inside the car

I used to own a 300ZXTT and the 350Z is no comparision for it. The Z33 was made for people who loved the Z31 and below. The Z32 was a totally different monster plus the sticker price was a monster for the consumer.
I agree the 350Z and G35 is not fast enough but look at the price they are going for and what comsumer they are looking for. If there was a TT version, I expect it to be in the mid 50's. Ghosn understood that they will not sell many of those cars priced that high. The 2007 GT-R will be priced in the mid 60's, so how many people does he see buying that car, not many I bet. He is in the game to make money for the company right now.
- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

I agree with JD King . . .it's all about torque!!! I used to have a CLK430 and that car had amazing torque that was nearly flat all of the way through the rev band. The car was powerful off the line and a monster between 50 and 70 mph. But that was a V8 displacing 4.3 liters. C'mon . . .you guys should know better . . .the G is a V6 that you have to rev to get the any significant power . . .not to mention that horsepower rating means little when compared to torque and to when you get that torque. For example a car that has 275 hp and 293 lb/ft of torque at 1800 rpm will break your neck off the line whereas a car that has 287 hp and 272lb/ft of torque at 3500 rpm won't give you that same feeling.
The only thing I have to add is that if you want your car to feel faster . . . .learn how to drive it the way it was meant to be driven. Learn the gears and learn where you get the most power and torque in each gear . . .at that point . . you won't be complaining . . .
One last thing . . .I totally agree that this car has a completely different demeanor after it is broken in . . .so much smoother and faster . . .

I just got back from a working road trip (Chicago to St Louis to Kansas City to Des Moines to Davenport to home). On my leg from Des Moines to Davenport a 540i came along and we ran for a time. In between traffic we would gun it from about 65-70 upto 140. I never pulled away and onlyonce did it slowly gain; I shifted too soon into 5th (auto) at about 5.5K rpms.
I love my G. It is now wafe, has a V6 normally asperated and is a auto, but the 540i and I were very close, if not identical. What I am saying is that the G is a great car. Mine was 34.5K (no Navi) and it is a blast. It may lose to an STI, an EVO, a Z06, a... But when I need to drive my kids to school, drive all over this grand country or just to a drive thru I thoroughly enjoy the drive. Not to mention the looks and questions I get at the pump or the front of the theater dropping it off to the valet.
Next year a FI kit will finds it way onto my G, it will only get better.
If all you wanted was power, buy something else. If you want a total well balanced package, by a G or a Z.

LOL! EVO not have neck snapping power... have you ever test drove one ? The new EVO's are amazing they get better reviews then the m3's.. EVO's are extremely impressive... yet i prefer our luxiory/speed combo.... rather then an EVO which is like a base car with a bad *** engine.. .
