I was at a stop light prparing to turn left. The M3 was behind me as I was tunring he ran up on my bumper really quick.. So I downshift and take off I imediately pull away from him by @ 1.5 car lengths and then am slowing inching away until I break off because we were aproaching a heavy traffic area. By the way it was an older body stye M3. After tapering off I noticed something... My AC was on. Chalk another one up for the G

I've read recently (in the ESM) that the A/C cuts off at full throttle.

Nice one but unfortunatly if it was a new M3 i dont think the end result would be the same!! But nice run anyway..I really wish the g were faster though!!!!

 

Like I've said in the past-- my 99 M3 felt incredibly similar to the G35 coupe, in terms of performance.

The E46 M3, however, will be quicker than a G35 coupe for sure.

 

Seriously, for some reason it feels like my car runs faster when the AC is on. The gas is very responsive and car tends to really want to go.

I think this is because the engine RPM is increased slightly by the ECU when the AC is on in order to compensate for the drain on power.

I raced a a brand new m3 a little while back...

I had a better launch and had him through the middle of third gear by a car length, but by the end of third he was almost even with me... from there to 140+ he eventually had me by 5-6 car lengths... Once i got my nitrous it'll be a different story! hahaha

oh and he slowed down and i pulled up next to him, and before I could give him the thumbs up he pointed at my ride, and gave me the thumbs... which i returned!

my friends owns a 2003 e46, and he can't shift for [censored]. he's learning on his m3...anyway, he'd be easy to beat, he gets paranoid while shifting and going fast.

once again, if the m3 e46 driver knows how to drive, you have no chance in the G. i think this is a game that needs to stop being played with non turbos.

i know i sometimes like letting some piece of [censored] altima think they can fly by me...it's all in good fun. they have girls in the car, i just slow down, let them pass, get behind them, pull up on the right, slow down, get behind them, pull up on the left, etc....the girls love it.

 

If you see the new M3, hope they misshift. Or suck. Ur only hope. =)

Yeah, the E36 and E 46 M3s are like apples to oranges in the power department. If I recall the old ones were rated at 240 hp, while the newer ones put out 333. I might play with a newer one just to see how bad I get beat...then again, I'd probably be depressed, so maybe not; LOL.

If any of you spot a Silver E46 M3 in Northwest NJ, flash your lights and if it's me, I'll trade you test drives. I came pretty close to getting a new G35, but found a used M3 w/only 3,800 miles and my wife convinced me to go for the M3 (she said I've been talking about them for years).

 

I would do the same. I almost bought g35 before my M3. I never got to drive a new G35. So if anyone is in NNJ and wants to thrash a 6spd M3 and would bw illing to let me thrash their G35, let me know. Black 2003.5 with 5% tint.
