International student=MSRP+$$

I am looking for G Coupe in LA, but most of the dealers didn't look like friendly enough. Even I told them to pay 4/5 of the price in cash. Do anyone know how to deal with them? to get better price and interest rate?

Better rate - Go through your own bank. Usually it's lower than the dealership + it's alot less hassle.

Better price - You just gotta haggle, man. Remember, the dealership gets ALL of their money up front, either out of your pocket or from the bank. In fact, they "lose" money if you pay cash since they can't poke you on the interest rate.

Who cares if the dealer is friendly. Are you looking for a new ride or a new buddy?

As Jonze noted, you'll get a better deal if you DON'T pay that much cash. However, in any car deal, you should haggle price first then determine financing. You may have to agree to 30% downpayment and finance the rest making sure there isn't a pre-payment penalty and just pay the loan off at your convienence. Or a better way to go is through GrubbsInfiniti.com where you'll get a better deal.

It is not the amount of cash you are paying that is hurting you. Being an International Student, you are one of the highest risk for a bank. I am sure you would not go back to your country without paying the loan off ... but, there is a reason why the banks are charging you a premium.

Could you get a loan in from a bank in your home country at a better rate?

Thanks guys! I can sure I need to pay it off in cash. Is anyone know any dealer could at least deal a little with me. I don't want to stay in US without any credit for many years.

no offense or nething, but in LA im assuming los angeles not louisiana... (is louisiana LA? is there a state with LA abbreviations? i ono wateva) its gonna be really hard to find a coupe under MSRP... im not an american student and have excellent credit and even after an hour of haggling, they wouldnt budge on the price xP so yeahhh haha good luck though!

I agree with the price before % points tactic too. A good way to not let them know about the cash upfront is to start negotiations online. You won't be pressured to tip your hand like you may at the dealership and you can use the online payment calc's to see where they're hiding/moving their margins. You can get a better price if the sales rep thinks he's going to take you on the financing, so let them think that. Explain to him/her that this is your first major purchase, you need to start building credit in the US, you expect a high rate and are willing to suck it up and pay it. Just try to get the price down w/o tipping your hand. When you finally get them to your price point, go down to the dealer (maybe at the end of the month) and close at that price w/ cash or another loan all squared up. Got $1600 off MSRP and $1300 over bluebook for trade before I even went in and before they even saw my trade. Took w/me a loan under 4% and bought the coupe they thought I was going to lease.
