I would love to hear an exhaust on a G in person but I live on the southern East coast. Does anyone have a sound clip of the Nismo exhaust?

How is upkeep? I'm worried about crazy cost getting them serviced and worked on. I know you know what I'm talking about. I'm used to being able to get under my car and change out a clutch myself in an hour, start to finish. How much do these cost to work on? How often do they stay in the shop?

Also what is this pinging issue there seems to be? https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-coupe-v35-2003-07/123091-pinging-spark-knock-pre-ignition.html I don't want to buy a car that is going to ping all the time.

Also what is a "rev up" motor?

I'm a former mustang owner myself. The G is my first import, I love it. The only thing you may not like is the low end torque (in comparison to a stang), but it's give or take. You get the luxury, the looks, and it's still pretty damn fast.

Former Stang owner here too...73 Mach I 351-C as well as my first performance import. True on tq in comparison, but you'll LOVE the handling in comparison.

Rev-up is the 289hp VQ power plant only on 05-07 6mt's as non-rev up is the 280hp.

I have many theories to the pinging issue as many others do too.
Cali 91 oct doesn't help, but in a nut shell imo, on hot days the ambient hot air + heat soaked plenum is a factor in this. Breathing mods also add to this. I'm lean on my a/f according to my dyno pulls. Need to tweak my fuel mappings. Iso-thermal plenum gaskets would help too in preventing so much plenum heat soak. Just my .02 on that.

You'll love the G despite all that. I do and I'm an old detroit iron guy.

Oh...and welcome to Driver

You can forget about getting 300 WHP with bolt-ons.

Most Coupes dyno at around 225 to high 230's in stock form, and the car isn't that mod friendly. If you want to get at 300 WHP, you're going to have to do a full NA engine build or go forced induction(forced induction should get you well over 300 WHP).

Mustang has more speed, and not as much quality. 5.1 0-60 vs about 5.6 0-60.

Get the G then a plenum spacer, a nice CAI and then have the ECM\ECU re flashed... That will get you what you in a nice power\efficiency range and may change the exhaust sound enough to please you also; mine did get a bit louder after all this but still sounds real sweet.

i say the NISMO and the FI exhaust sound the best with FI HIGH FLOW CATS also a STILLEN/ Z-TUBE INTAKE, 1/2 SPACER AND MERV2 will have the G sounding nice
