Our dealer says that they won't order a Coupe with leather, but no options, because a) if we back out of the deal, it will be "unsellable" and b) there's a high likelihood that Infiniti corporate will reject the order on similar grounds.

Does this sound right to anyone?

 

That's bull I think....my dealer here told me that he would order it anyway I want cause it will sell. You are not the only one who wants just leather out there. Many are pissed cause dealers won't order in anything but fully loaded models...it will sell...

I too have heard that you won't see many cloth Coupe's in the dealer because most dealers order loaded or fairly loaded cars.

He wants leather just not anything else...I think anyway...and that isn't that bad. I ordered the base one here in Canada where our base comes with leather and winter package and nothing else and my dealer had no problem with that.

This is bull.. The first dealer I went to tried to sell me the same story, so I went to another dealer and he ordered it for me.

 

You might have more luck at another dealer, but I doubt it. It was the same story around Boston too, but fortunately I wanted the premium package. The one thing you could do is offer to make your order non-refundable within a certain time period that's reasonable for them to slip it in with the other orders. Alternatively, settle for one that's in stock. I know there's 1 in Maine with only a sunroof as an option (at a ridiculous $1000). They also have a completely base black/willow MT coupe with no options at all for $29k, but that's with cloth seats. Of course, depending where you live the cost of getting it out of Maine might be almost as much as just ordering it up with the unwanted options.

My dealer said that I had to order at least a sunroof on the 6MT coupe. So i just ended up getting that plus the aero package.

That's BS. I've seen base coupes at a few dealers in the NYC Metro area. Dealers make less on the vehicle when it is plain. Loaded with options they can make about $ 1000 more. Check other dealerships. They are plenty and abundant.

I got a coupe 5AT with leather and only 1 option. The $70 floor mat for the trunk.

I didn't order it, the dealer said he ordered one just to get a coupe without the sunroof (which prevents me from sitting in the car).

I bought it right off of the truck. It still had the plastic film on the horizontal surfaces and a thicker film on the air dam.
