everything to know before buying

hey guys, my dad is thinking about getting a new g35 coupe. i just need to know what you guys think would be the best car for him to get, (packages/options). we already test drove a 6mt which had the navi package. i know this is really a question of what he wants, but i just want to make sure we know exacally what, and have all the information. so if you want, just leave a message of stuff on your car, that you didn't learn about untill you bought it, and things you would have changed if you knew before hand. thanks

Do you even have a Nav?

I bet if you ask people with nav if they thought it was a waste you'd get less than 5% saying it was. But if you asked how many people wished they had gotten the nav you'd probably get 25% or more.

~wheel pkg
~spsh guards
~maybe nav. its up to how lost your dad gets???

I'm disapointed with prem. pkg. Not much for bose, don't use sun roof, (plus I'm tall) head room issues, auto off bugs me, homelink I like, can't see out the auto dim mirror anyways......

Hope this helps!!!

i think the nav is a waste of money. for the amount that you pay its a rip off. yes it comes in handy especially if you're one that's bad with directions but i don't think its worth paying 2000 for. if you have the money to waste, go ahead. i just got black/black prem pkg and nothing else. i plan on modifying the car later when i get bored of it, if i ever do that is. and yes i've driven cars with nav in them.

Re: everything to know before buying

The question is far too open-ended to answer, if you really think about it...What has your father owned in the past, and how loaded did he have the past rides? That information would help immensely, as we're being asked to speculate on the happiness your father may get from each package...Instead of arguing over whether Navi is worth the price or not I think it's much more poignant to ask if this guy's father is the kind that wants all the "bells and whistles" in his car and if he's willing to pay for them...I think the best thing to do is to sit in rides equipped with the different packages and play, then test drive them, then determine what your father can't live without and just has to have in his car

If I had it all to do over again, I would pay the extra money for the wheel package because it includes the limited slip rear differential.

The Nav is definitely worth it if you got the extra $2500. If thats an issue then oh well. However I think every other option should be purchased, aero, wheel & tire, etc.

Re: everything to know before buying

Nav is $2K but it requires the Premium Package which is $2250, so it really adds $4250 to the price. It also requires either the Leather (5AT) or 6MT models

The base price of the cheapest model, the cloth interior coupe, is only $29,795, but if that price sounds good except you'd like Nav, unfortunately you'd be forced to spend $6550 more for the required leather/premium/Nav packages on the 5AT or $7450 more for the 6MT/Premium/Nav.

So yeah, the Nav costs $2K....sorta...

BTW I have a 6MT w/Nav/Aero and love it. It's still a great value even with all the bell$ & whistle$ added.

Re: everything to know before buying

i know it is pretty open, but this has helped. The kinda stuff i wouldn't have known was the wheels package w/ rear differential and that's the kinda stuff i wanna find out. The nav is just personal preference and financial situation. We did test drive the 6mt, so that comes with a lot of stuff, and i got the impression that he like the 6 spd., but i'm not sure wheither he is going to get that model. (I sure hope so)
thanks again guys
