245/40/18 On Front of '04 Coupe... anyone doing this without any issues?

I'm getting new tires in a week or so, and after much research have decided on Falken FK-452's. I want to go wider in the front but still use my OEM 18x8" rims. Falken makes a 245/40/18 tire which I would like to use instead of the 225/45/18 OEM size, but I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this setup on their coupe and if it fits without any rubbing issues or negative results with the VDC system.

2004 G35 Coupe 6MT is the car, and I'd be running Falken FK-452's 245/40/18 up front and 245/45/18 in the rear.

Anyone with specific experience with that setup.. please chime in!

Thanks.

I had 235/40/18 and i got uneven camber wear on the inside. That's on stock 18's not lowered.

Wider tires in the front will make it more tail happy (more oversteer) I ride 235s on the front and do notice more oversteer than with 225s, but i used to have a 911 so i like oversteer. I'd imagine thats why nissan used 225s, to balance the handling a little.

No problems if........

With 245's on the front I had tire rub issues on tight right handers, but after
Stillen sways were installed that was no longer an issue. I've got 275's out
back and don't have any problems with my "tail waging!"

Hey.. question for you specifically(since you seem to be one of the few people actively running this setup on a car just like mine).... How close are you to rubbing with the front wheels turned all the way to either side?

I was out there on my car the other day and I tried turning my wheels all the way to the left(did the same thing to the right too), and then getting out of the car and going over to the wheel well on each side and checking how much clearance I had between the front fender and the outer edge of the wheel as well as the inside of the wheel well(near the frame) and the inner edge of the wheel. It seemed like the most likely spot for it to rub would have been on the inner edge(back edge) of the tire against the frame or plastic on the inside of the wheel well at the back of the front wheel.

Dealer has had the car since last night (window motor replacement). I'll take a look when I get the car back, probably tonight.

Sweet dude... if you could do that, that would be a tremendous help and very much appreciated.

OK, got the car back. I did not crawl under the car - have to wait for the weekend if you want a visual inspection (let me know...). But I turned it to the locks. reached behind the tires all around. There is at least and inch of clearance everywhere.

One clarification - I have the standard OEM wheels. If you have aftermarket wheels with a different offset, than my experience does not apply.

Excellent! Thanks for your help.

I have the same 18x8" OEM wheels that you have... just a year newer. I guess that gives me the go-ahead to slap on the 245's up front since I cross-referenced the tire specs of the Pirelli tires that you have in a 245/40/18 with those of the ones I want to get, and they seem to be the same(at least according to what the sizes are when measured on an 8.5" rim).

Thanks again.
