So i wasn't paying attention today when i was parking and i ran into a high curb and destroyed my front bumper.
The questions I have are;
Do i call my insurance company and have them replace it for me?
Can I get an aftermarket or a 2006 bumper instead of the 2005 one through my insurance company?
Should I just suck it up and pay for the whole thing by myself?
My deductible is $500.
any advice will help.

an oem bumper if like 300 from the dealer. try finding one used in the marketplace. i would just pay out of pocket, or maby go aftermarket

 

bumper cover is ~$300 and a paintjob is ~$2-300. Just pay for it yourself and get an 06 sport bumper

 

yup, if your deductible is $500 and cost of repair/replacement is another hundred or two, just pay it. It's not worth filing a claim and have it be on your record for a $100-200. Save it for major accidents.

 

This is kinda difficult to figure because you didn't mention what the insurance
reaction will be if you make this claim.......you need to find out. Replacing
your bumper will cost you around $1200 with paint etc, at least that's what
I just paid for my new Kurma Z bumper.....bumper+paint+install. If you lived
anywhere close to me I'd sell you my old bumper/OEM lip but the price is $400
plus the cost of having it painted which is probably another $200 at least.
Maybe you're better off having the insurance company take care of your
bumper everything considered......Good Luck! Gary

well i'm convinced now, especially after looking at the prices of used bumpers here and on e-bay. i don't mind waiting around a little to find a nice aftermarket or 2005 one at the right price. Thanks for the advice guys.

 

i have a used 2003 oem bumper, will that fit urs 05?

 

yeah it will, i was kinda hoping for an 06 with the lip or something aftermarket, but if the price is right I'll be ok with the 2003.

Well, i will be putting a Kenstyle bodykit on my car next week. That's why i won't be needing the front bumper. Mine is Carribean Blue and im located in California. If you are interested, let me know we could work something out.
