BRAKE and SLIP lights wont go away

Hey guys, I wanted to check this across the forum before I had to go into the dealership...

This has only happened twice so far, and about 3 days apart. I have an 04 6MT coupe. I would turn off VDC, and if I do a hard launch in 1st gear, the BRAKE light would come on and the SLIP light flickers because the wheels lose grip, but then both the SLIP and BRAKE lights come on when I drive normally again. I can't even turn VDC back on.

Once the car is restarted, the BRAKE and SLIP lights go away, and VDC comes back on.

What's the deal? Do you guys think it's an ECU/electrical problem, or an engine one? The car seems to drive normally when this happens, and i know the hand brake isn't engaged because in neutral the car will roll.

any help please!

That's the only problem?

Arg, I just replaced my pads/resurfaced my rotors 10K ago. I certainly don't brake hard too often.

probably time to replace your rotors, the back ones should be resurfaced once and then replaced, the front ones should always just be replaced.

would not hurt to check anyways

other reasons the light would come on would be getting new wheels but that has nothing to do with the brake light.

Mine did this when I needed new brakes. The temporary fix is to top off the brake fluid. At least that worked for me.

I think i read somewhere on the forum that this is how you turn of TC (traction Control) so you can drift i dunno. Your slip lights and brake lights prob means your TC is off but again my memory is vague =X

mine is doing this right now. abs, vdc, slip pretty much when i start the car or first touch the brake it comes on. check the fluid and it was fine, put it to max anyway. Is there a sensor somewhere on the brakes that dtects when the pads are low or does it work off the level of brake fluid? also, if it was the throttle body thing would the abs light still come on?

have you had any work done to car recently? New wheels maybe? or maybe a mechanic that was unaware that wheels can't be rotated?

i knew a girl that had a 350z and had her wheels rotated and came across the same problem.

yes topping off the brake fluid to fill the space from rotor wear will trick the system momentarily but unless you bought new wheels ITS TIME TO GET YOUR ROTORS CHECKED.

Yes - time to have your brakes done. It's never a good idea to add brake fluid - that is the sign of how much wear you have in your pads and rotors. Wher you get the brake work done, the level will go back up to normal.

If you add fluid, it'll just overflow and spit out all over the place once the pads are put in.
