It was pretty much a nice and sunny day here in the OC when a red Evo VIII pulls up next to me on south PCH by Main St. in Huntington Beach. I guess he sees my Coupe glistening with her 19" Volks and NISMO aero kit and decides to do something about it. He's revving me up and his blow-off valve whistles and I hear the exhaust growl. Nice car too...Veilside kit, I believe and what looked like 18" Advan RG's in gold. Whatever, right?

So I decide to play his game and rev up my beast and let him have an earful of RS-R exhaust and NISMO CAI. We bait each other til the light turns green and off we go. He gets the better launch due to his 4WD and I'm half a car behind. I pull up dead even after 3 seconds and we're screaming past the Waterfront Hilton at about 80mph. After passing Beach Blvd., I am a full car length ahead and the Evo is slowly fading!!! The next light turns red so it starts again.

Round 2 has him launch ahead of me again but by the time we reach the next intersection, I am already ahead, I would say, 2 and a half car lengths.

G35: 2...EVO VIII: 0!!!

We decide to quit after traffic gets a bit heavier as we head toward Newport. We go our separate ways as I head to Fashion Island and he continues down PCH but not before we acknowledge each other and give each other a little peace sign.

What exactly do you have done to your g? I find it a bit hard to beleive a g walked on an evo without a decent amount of work done to it or if the evo driver sucked or he missed a gear both times. I am honestly curious b/c if the g is really faster than an evo... give me the keys...NOW!

 

yeah please list your mods, i ran an evo from a roll in second, and he had a car length instantly.

I got walked by an evo by about half a car length from a second gear roll.

Yeah ok buddy, smoke another one! He either couldn't drive for sh*t, or you weren't racing an EVO. It was probably just a lancer w/EVO badges on it. I own a g35, but the fact is, those EVOs are much faster than the G, MUCH!

Evo comes fully modded, esp. w/AWD.
G35 is fast, but i think Evo is faster.

Yeah, The Evo is probably faster than the G but this guy was either taking it easy on me or he just sucked at driving.

In any case, the only cars that ever hit me up are Evos. For some reason my car attracts them. Weird, huh?

There's no engine work on my car yet though I only have the RS-R exhaust and a NISMO CAI.

There are evo's out there runnin 11.9's using the stock turbos (but prolly not much else. )
There no way a g35 could get that fast. even with a TT runnin less than 10 pounds boost.

STI's Evos and most WRX's are not worth our time/gas bc we will get walked everytime (assuming decent driver)

Yea evos run 13.4 stock (if you are a good driver) and the 6spd G runs it in 14.6 if I remember right (I know everyone will correct me if i'm wrong). So I think we all figured out the guy driving the evo probably didn't know how to drive or it was just a riced out lancer evo wannabe... I like the way the EVO looks, not the STI. You have to aquire a taste for them...

 

the G doesnt run 14.6 it will run a 14.1 an auto G will do 14.6. Some people get as low as 13.9 on a stock G. But the Evo will distroy a G unless it is a crappy driver of missed a gear or somthing. THere is a video of a 350Z TT that is barly able to beat a evo granted it was only running 5-6 pounds of boost from whast i understand but still.

i thnk its cuz all the lil boy racers get an evo thinking they are hot but cant drive it for their lives... having a fast car means nothing if you dont know how to drive it

evo's are neat... but where's the class? where's the interior? wheres the brand? where's the I'm a not a kid in a overpowered rice machine that is gonna blow any minute?

where's the point in getting a evo? ...sorry speed yah, which you maybe get to use once a month tops and risk losing your license or killing someone.
