D*mn I got hit!!!!

Hey all.... Hate to say it but I was parked outside a local post office when a soccer Mom backed into me denting my left rear bumper just below the taillight. Suffice it to say I am pretty bummed. It crumbled like a piece of tin foil with minimal damage to her SUV.

Is there a way for me to punch it out or is a body shop my only alternative. Would really appreciate your input.

Take it to a shop and get it appraised. FWIW, I laughed when I first read your post as I thought you were asking if there was a "way you could punch her (the soccer mom) out."

No but many rear bumpers are. I have yet to see an aftermarket rear that is cleaner than the OEM version with rear splashguards and is of good quality. Get an OEM bumper and it will fit like a glove, and painting will be cake.

Post a pic of the damage. Hoping that you swapped insurance information, take it to a body shop for inspection. There may be damage laying within the vehicle's frame which you cannot physical see.

heres what you do:

get a quote from your dealership for a painted rear bumper, and have her insurance give you a check for that amount. Then take that check, and go buy your self an after market bumper like a Kenstyle rear or something. chances are the price will be similar for both bumpers, considering that the stealership jacks up their prices on replacement oem parts.

I did this when i got into an accident and it was great.
Good luck with your claim

It's approximately $700* to replace the bumper cover, paint and mount it at a good body shop.

It may be worth it to you to go outside of insurance. Fewer claims = less $ down the road.
