Sunroof seal

I have noticed that when my sunroof is up, I can see the weather sealing rubber and its very white/grey. Was going to clean it, but, not sure what to use or will putting some protectant on it make it leak?

Some silicone spray is good. Spray it on a rag and then wipe it. Also, do not use ED-40 since it will only dry it out instead.

dont mess with silicone spray. When the 3M stuff dried out each month, it only made my seal worse, until I had the sunroof replaced under warranty after about 18 months. The new one has the same squeaky seal, but I've been using Gummi Pfedge, just like everyone said it would, my seal gives me no more trouble. and I rarely have to re-apply. When I do, I dont have to worry about stains or stink (silicone spray), Gummi smells like citrus..

Your BMW dealer carries it. Some sell it for $17, others for $40. It's worth 17, but my local BMW dealer wanted 40, so I ordered from Autopia

I have some Formula 303 Aerospace protectant that I ordered for my door seals. I've tried it on my sunroof too, and it didn't seem to alleviate the creaking noise when I open it.

If this Gummi Fudgepacker stuff is just a similar product to the Formula 303, I probably won't bother ordering it.

Hey SFGR... let us know if this stuff makes the sunroof creak cease.

I have been using Gummi Pflege for four years on my sunroof without any problems. I apply it every two mounts to the rubber seal around the sunroof. It takes less than five minutes to apply. It been working well for me.
