Sound coming from rear of car????

I have an 04 coupe. For about the past 2 months, I have noticed a knocking type noise when I am traveling very slowly and when I am turning or when I go up a driveway when the car kind of rocks side to side a little. It sounds like there is a golf ball or something in my trunk. Before writing this I checked thorougly for a golf ball. It does not seem related to the turning of the wheels or axle, but instead seems like it may be suspension related. I cannot (won't) put enough pressure on the body by pushing down on it to rock the car, so I cannot reproduce it when not driving. Anyone have a similar issue or have an idea what I'm dealing with?

Check the rear sway bar end links for excess play.

It doesn't sound like axle clicking. It isn't related to turning of the wheels. It is more like - as weird and as impossible as it sounds - like something is floating in the gas tank and bumping up against the side when it gets sloshed around. I know this is not possible so don't flame me. I'm just trying to describe it. If I turn the wheel side to side to get a side to side motion going, I get the sound at low speed.

I have an 03 sport coupe and I know exactly what you're talking about. It's a weird noise coming from the rear. At first I thought it was the suspension but realized it's not. I wonder if it's just the noise of the gas swishing up against the tank? I'm not sure, but I'm always trying to figure it out. However, I did notice that when I turn sometimes the rear seat belts hit the plastic and produce a similar sound.

Have your sway bar end link bushings replaced. Don't just get it tightened because it will come back. Replace the bushings with new ones. Depending on the Technician replacing your bushings knowing how to properly set a sway bar for a type of a car; you'll never get the clacking sound at slow speed.

LOOSE AXLE BOLT... Take it to the dealer. This is a problem since 2003.

My 06 was making all types of "popping" noises. Whenever I go over a speedbump or driveway. Thought it was stupid interior noises or a bad sunroof.

Dealership re-torqued it and all is good.

I have an 03 G Coupe and I have the same issue. I do have coilovers and I am lowered about 1' all the way around. Mine rattles a little on harsh roads, but when I am pulling into a drive way I get a loud POPPING sound from passenger side rear.
