15K mile service..necessary???

Well, its almost time for the 15K mile checkup. How necessary is the service? How many owners out there have actually done it? Just dont want to waste more $ and mileage going to the dealer.

I m about 10k away lol but I think you should do it. I mean just to keep up with your service schedule you know. I mean the dealer does charge ridiculous prices and what not but all the work is warrantied and all the parts are genuine Infiniti.

So lets say I need new brake pads... will they replace them for free, or charge me extra ontop of the 15K mile service?

Re: 15K mile service..necessary???

I wient to the dealer at 20k for other reasons and even the service manager forgot to mention to service I had to ask him what they do. It was nothing important. I think replace the in cabin filter. oil change, and a quick lookover on the car. I knew that the replacement of the filter was easy if I wanted to do it myself and the oild was just done so I didnt have anything done. I really dont see the point to getting the 15k service at least but then again the dealer didnt sell it very well.

I had mine done on my sedan. They add a lot of "fluff" to the list of things they do which will jack up the cost. Just tell your dealer to only do what is necessary to maintain your warranty. That should eliminate a lot of the small unecessary stuff they try to charge you for. I can send you a copy of my 15K Invoice if you want the complete list. I got the works with a lot of "fluff", LOL. As for the brakes, they should replace the pads for free now.

Re: 15K mile service..necessary???

Just called 4 dealers about their 15K mile service. This is what they said:

Inf. of Ft. Wayne IN.
$179
Full inspection, oil change, rotation/balance, fuel injection service, wipers (if needed), air filter

Pfeiffer Inf.of Grand Rapids MI
$35
Basic "one over"
$65.00 with oil change
any other items (wipers, air filters etc) extra

Fletcher Jones of Chicago
$298.38
Oil change, cabin filter, air filter, brake pads (if needed), rotors checked, battery checked, bal/rot tires, wiper blade replaced

D&R Inf. Indianapolis IN
$304.00
Oil change and overall inspection
Any additional services (replace wipers, brake pads, air cleaners etc) is additional charge..

There you have it. Think I will go to Ft.Wayne. Its closer for me anyway.

Beware the B/S! First, brake pads and rotors are now warranted for 3/36. And "Fuel Injection Service"? What the heck is that? Also, the cabin filter should not be left out; it is one of the few legit things to do along with oil change and tire rotation.

Oops! You're right. Brembo brakes on 6MT are not covered under the 3/36 warranty.
