Coupe not starting

Ok I dont know if I'm doing something wrong, or if something IS wrong.

Ever since I got my car, about once every other day it wont start. For example, I drive the car to where I'm going and park it (car is in 1st). Get out of car, do my business, get back in car. Still in first gear, parking brake on, I turn the key and....nothing. Just totally and completely dead. I get some dashboard lights but the car just wont turn over. Turn key again still dead. Then I have to completely turn the ignition back to the "off" position, re-turn the key, and *hopefully* it starts. Sometimes I have to turn it off and on once more then it finally turns over. After than it runs fine...until a couple days later where it doesnt start right away. I'm in SoCal so it sure as heck isnt because of snow.

Ideas? Do I need to take it in? (I need the parking brake adjusted anyways but I didnt want to take it in JUST for that)

Re: Coupe not starting

The clutch has to be pressed all the way in before the ignition will engage. Could that possibly be it?

Assuming that you do have the clutch all the way in when you're attempting to start it, it sounds like it may be a malfunction with the circuit that prevents starting with the clutch out. I'd take it to the dealer and have it looked at. The clutch position sensor/ignition lockout thingie may have gone bad.

Yeah I'm pushing the clutch in. Sounds like it could be a sensor problem I guess...

those anti-theft things in stores (they swipe boxes over), can kill the chip in your keys.. Or shock... I bet they have to give you a new key and reprogram the SECU. Have you tried your other key? if that doesnt help, then its the SECU.

No the key works fine. It just wont start once or twice a day.

I didnt want to take it to the dealer JUST for the e-brake adjustment (didnt want to waste my time), but now I have a good reason to take it in. Oh well....time to see how well the service dept. works around here *thinks of horror stories I've heard*
