Auto Shutoff headlights?

Re: Auto Shutoff headlights?
GOOD POINT I WAS JUST THINKING THE SAME.
when i put my light as ON.... then when i go turn off the lights... it has to go pass PARKING lights which turns off headlights... then when i go into AUTO the lights goes back on... then goes to OFF. Doesnt seem too good for the xenon~!

Re: Auto Shutoff headlights?
Same thing for turning on the headlights from the "off" position as well. It goes through auto then parking lights then headlights. Seems like the design should have set the "auto" feature to come after the "headlight" setting. So it would be parking lights, headlight, then auto-headlights.

Re: Auto Shutoff headlights?
I think it's a good thing, safety-wise, to have the headlights come on automatically when you enter a tunnel or parking garage.
You can have your Infiniti dealer set up to 13 different items with the control module they hook up to the car. I had it done for free with my last service.
-Now my keyfob unlock will unlock both doors with the first push, so I don't have to push twice. My wife likes to try to open the passenger door when she here's the first click, then when I push it the second time she's pulling on the handle and it doesn't unlock. That's not a problem anymore!
-Now my headlight come on sooner in "auto" mode. I found there were times before when the ambient light was low for my tastes, but the headlights stayed off. Not a problem anymore!
-Now the "auto" headlights turn off immediately after exiting and closing the door. No more problems with people telling me my headlights are on when I park in a garage!
Here's the complete list of settings your dealer can do for you.

Re: Auto Shutoff headlights?
i just realized that if you start your car with the lights OFF... the auto lights dont come on if you switch the lights to ON while driving... so when you get home and turn off the lights... the light does flicker on auto. The lights are auto if you leave it on auto and then start the car

Re: Auto Shutoff headlights?
I think the auto function has a design flaw to it as well. When I drive around at night, I just put it on Auto. But during the day, I just put the lights on Off because I don't care for the lights to come on under tunnels and crap. On Auto mode, when you turn your car off after driving, the lights will shut off either as soon as you get out of your car and shut the door, or in some time less than a minute (I dunno exactly how long). If you like to drive your car around in the full "On" position at night and you forget to turn your lights off, they will automatically shut off after 5 minutes, so you don't have to worry about your battery draining or anything gay like that.
EDIT: Yeah, I had my G programmed with the little programming sheet that was posted a few posts earlier in this thread. When I leave my lights on Auto at night, the lights shut off as soon as I close my door, and I think that's a pretty hot feature. It's like the car "knows" you just parked and exited the vehicle. =)
