thnx for the input guys. im not too worried about the reliability because hes driven it for 25k+ miles without any issues that werent his own fault.

 

Just one more thing to add... I wouldn't ever sell a car to a friend, nor would I buy one from a friend, because you just never know what will happen and, well, yeah, I'm sure you've heard this before.

And no offense or anything, but it sounds like your mind is pretty made up on the purchase regardless of any advice dished out here; so just settle on a median fair price that you can comfortably afford (he's lucky enough just to have a buyer) and then make sure he picks up the tab when you're old enough to go out the bars.
