should i keep my 03g35c
should i keep my 03g35c
Just bought my coupe less than a month ago with 18,600 miles on it for 20k. everything is great about it all i worry about is that its almost 5 years old and it was the first year the coupe came out. just wanted everyones opinion before i start modding it.
well first off, i dont have a G35 yet, and i dont know much about them, but i wouldnt spend that much money on a car and not be completely satisfied with it. Im look for an 05+ 6MT. You can mod the car all you want. Its your car..not anybody elses..so i think if you like it? Thats all that matters...
dont get me wrong i love the car the best ive ever had better than my e46. but it 08 nd its an 03 firt production year. im crossing my fingers on this one. from what ive been reading there havent been serious problems with them
03's do have alot of problems, an 04 and 06 seem to be the best bet .. from what i read... although 06 is knows to have oil consumption.. but not as many as 05.. plus u should b covered with an 06. *hell im still covered with an 04*. but opinions on this forum about years/models tend to b a tad biased.. everyone votes for the car they own
..common sense since we all love our cars

edit ur signature in user cp lol. but yea if ur gonna mod it to a certain extent say turbo.. ur gonna need to basically overhaul the whole engine so might as well stick with the 03 if nothin is wrong with it.

Posted this from an actual 03 coupe owner.(in2win)
tranny replaced at 20k
engine known to burning 2 quarts of oil plus per 3k ( under consumption test)
both lower seat foam deteriorated and damaged leather (replaced)
gas cap keeps "unclicking" itself and causing a check engine light
fuel sending unit( recall)
terrible inner tire wear/camber issues
creaks all over the place on the interior, etc. etc. etc. etc. and thats just for an 03!

maybe I was mad at the G that night i posted that
Everything that was replaced was replaced at the disgretion of the dealership...they like warranty work sometimes because they get payed back by nissan. None of the problems were really that bad other than the burning oil, because engine was replaced under warranty. 03's burning oil is extremely rare.
I would get an 04 jsut because it has 2 more seat adjustment...not biggie.
03 interior is great if its kept in good condition, Ive driven plenty of 05+ g35's when I valeted cars and the aluminum scratches way too easy.

There is nothing wrong with the first year G35. It is built as well as any other year. If anything, they just improved upon an already good designed car.
None of the engine problems related to the 06+ 6Mt rev up engine.
They have the same issues with window motors in 07 that they did in 03. The seats are ****ty in every year regarding how well they hold up......
So, I would not feel you have a problem car......enjoy it, and have fun.

Your gonna sell the car in anticipation that something will go wrong when nothing is currently wrong with it?
I bet for the actual transaction cost involved in switching cars, you could probably fix everything that will go wrong with it out of pocket.

Greetings, my first post here.
I've been an 03 G35 coupe 6MT owner for 5 years now, I am the first owner of my car, purchased it a few months after the G coupe came out.
Let me just say I am a tad disappointed with the car. There are no bug related problems with the engine or drivertrain/etc. However the interior is whats really "bugging" me.
a. My driver side window/door started to rattle a year or so back (this happens when i have the music and base up), brought it into the dealership to get it fixed, twice! And its still doing the same thing.
b. The clutch from the interior is making some weird creeking noise, seems to me that its not lubed up enough or something. Also brought this in to the dealer twice over the past 3 years, still havent gotten it fixed. has nothing to do with then engine part, since the noise is coming from the inside.
c. My driver seats backrest seems to be loose, everytime i brake or acc a bit harder i can feel my backrest shift. also brought this in to the dealer twice over the past 3 years, still havent gotten it fixed.
Other than the interior details I dont find anything wrong with the car. IMO it was a $35k car, it shouldn't be doing this, however I do understand that I purchased the 1st generation version and there are bound to be some problems. However I am happy that its not engine related.
I have no mods what so ever, i am also actually thinking of selling my coupe and getting the new M3. But its pretty damn pricey imo.
Anyone have an estimate on how much I could get for my coupe? Its an 03 6mt, with about 52k miles on it. (give it to me easy :P)
