Do you need custom CF parts?
Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
I think a hood like these top secret hood might be popular and functional, especially on forced induction cars for cooling and if it could be designed with removable under panels like the original TRD hoods for the Supra's. I used to have one on my Supra and it was great when it rained, there were small studs that hung down and allowed you to bolt on fiber glass covers for when it rained.

I think something like this defuser would look cool also:

I think that part should have been black from the factory like on the 3 series. It makes it look as if it weren't there from a distance. On race cars that part usually is gone so the rear bumper doesn't act like a parachute or it is diffesed by under panelling. Just my ideas so far, I'm sure you could come up with a ton of stuff.

Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
This might be a stupid question but is it possible to make a CF hood that has a DG base color instead of like charcoal (*cough* carbon) color.
if you hadn't guessed im totally ignorant in terms of carbon fiber development.

Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
Probably be easier/cheaper just to make it out of CF and have it painted. I could be wrong though...

Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
There is such a thing as color carbon fiber, but as far as matching the paint color of your car.... I'm not too sure.

Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
i would buy a CF front spoiler, or some side skirts. If u could do the kits with out a clear coat or as an option with out a clear coat that would be amazing. I dont car for the look of black on a silver car... i like the look but i dont think i could deal with it every day. i would like to paint it thats what why i ask for no clear coat. From my understanding u can do a thin layer of paint over the CF and it looks fairly good.
keep us posted thanks
also if u could a CF hood like the one top secret has for the 350z that would be amazing. thanks man

Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
CF comes in a variety of colors like siiiiing pointed out, but it's pretty difficult to match it to your car color, and it's a little more expensive, which is why you see most CF parts made of black CF.
fabricating a piece from CF and then painting over it defeats the purpose of having a CF part, unless your main concern is weight reduction and you can afford to have a custom CF part made and painted.
it looks like a reverse scoop hood would be pretty popular at this point. thanks for your input, and keep the great ideas coming!

Re: Do you need custom CF parts?
A CF hood with a reverse scoop on each side would be great. The design of the hood should match the exotic lines of the G.

Check out this site. the hood is ok but I'd like to see a little more imagination put into it. I like the trunk spoiler. The prices are way too high though.
I'm not sure if a center scoop would fit very well. I've never measured the OEM hood before but it seems like it gets pretty close to the engine cover and especially for those who have the V5 plenum (mine is on order :-).
I'm ready for a CF hood, grille, spoiler, & skirts.
Everyone here has put forth some great ideas I hope we can see it turn into reality ASAP.
If possible it would be nice for us to see some concept drawings before.
PS
I'm in the So. Bay area if ur interested in a proto car.
