I made it from Boston to New York to New Jersey and back to Boston on one tank of gas. I think it was around 450 miles. (the last 30 miles was quite exciting)

I also drove from Orange County to San Francisco on one tank of gas with 3 people in the car and trunk full of luggages. 440miles before I filled up.

Gas tank on the G is 20 gallons and then there are some left in the fuel system. Theoretically with 24mpg average highway I've been getting I should be able to do 480miles before the car goes dead.

Also drove from Palomar Observatory (San Diego) to 15 freeway with less than 1 gallon of gas. (lol, average 60+mpg) Downhill driving is really great especially if there are no gas stations within 20miles.

Dude, you drive your car all over the country, eh?. Boston to NY.... and then a bunch of Cali driving... jeese... that's opposite ends of the country! I doubt if my car will ever see anything beyond Massachusetts, RI, NH, and Maine. I think so far it's only been in Mass and RI.

Sunday Night: With a 2006 Coupe with 10k miles:
Filled up, then drove 52.7 miles in a fit of anger. Hard acceleration (shift 5k+) and very fast highway speeds(6th gear, rpm above 4500ish most of the time if not higher).. Stock everything. 19" forged rims, original tires. No mods or anything. I filled back up after my driving spree 3.343 gallons. Only use 93 octane. Averaged: 15.7 mpg.

Normal Driving
Shift from 2-4K and get to 6th quickly and cruise at 1400 rpm at 45 or so. I averaged from 6 tanks so far, 22.73 mpg.

so It all depends on how you drive and what modifications you have.

http://www.infinitihelp.com/Infiniti...ifications.htm

says the tank hold 20 gallons. My light comes on when i have about 300 miles on the tank. That is about 14 gallons, give or take depending on the driving style. So yes the E light comes on very early so that you do not run out of gas. 1 trip to Wilimington I got about 390 miles and filled up with about 17 gallons so that would average close to 22mpg.

I usually drive 75MPH most days but will follow anything that passes me so many days it's 80, 90, 100... It makes little difference on the highway for me.

No, some of us can actually do the math and some, like me, also have no factory NAV to look at anyway...

I think you're doing it wrong.

Miles Driven / Gallons Used. Forget how big the tank is.

420 miles/16 gals = 26.25 mpg

See above. Gallons Used should be based on how many gallons you refill with after starting with a full tank. Doesn't matter about the light or the size of the tank.

Maybe you have it on kilometers or you probably have a Doc Brown
flux capacitor installed. Did Chewy install a rear coupling
in your warp drive?

Sorry I couldn't resist.

I'm sure our USDM G35s doesn't have kilometers or Doc Brown flux capacitor installed. And no, Chevy didn't install a rear coupling in my warp drive.

And it's ok, don't be sorry for being a retard here.

Wow, hostile! I would have guessed by your avatar that you should have "got" the Chewy (not Chevy) reference he made. I for one thought it was funny. Sorry it didn't offer you the same benefit.

That's not true about the half-tank fillup accuracy. The only difference between the fuel economy measurements when the tank is half full compared to running it low and filling it all the way up and calculating your miles per gallon by dividing miles traveled by gallons used.... is that when you do half a tank and fill it, our G35's will have weighed about 50-60 pounds more due to the extra gas in the tank while calculating the economy(gas weighs around 6 pounds per gallon, and most G35's will read half way full on the gauge at around 11 or 12 gallons left in the tank)... and it could result in the fuel economy being maybe .2 MPG less for the half tank in comparison to someone who did their fuel economy calculations based on a whole tank of gas that was run from full to almost empty.

If you want to get really accurate and figure out to the finest degree what kind of gas milleage you personally really get over the course of a fillup... the best and most accurate thing to do just so happens to be the simplest... which is to change nothing from your normal driving habits(meaning that you shouldn't suddenly alter your fillup habits and fill up at halfway if you normally fill up when almost empty), and then divide the amount of miles you traveled on the full tank of gas by the amount of gas that it takes to fill the tank back up to the point where the pump clicks off(don't top off)... and preferably do it at the same pump at the same gas station with the car facing the same direction during the fillup.
