Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

Well it was sooooo nice out yesterday. I was just crusing back to my house comming from a wake. I wasnt realy looking for a race as mine and my GF's mind was kinda assed out.. I noticed a black GT Convert probably 95ish with a nice loud exhaust. ( No where near as loud as the last one ) so it was a one lane road but I knew it was going to open up to a 2 lane soon. Sure enough as soon the 2 lanes appeared I looked in the rear view and he down shifted and switch lanes so I was like ohhhh F#@$ I quickly down shifted into second. By the time I down shifted he was already in left lane at my rear bumper with a full head of stream.. So he got about 1/2 car a head of me I shifted 3rd and look over and the to guys starts wave bye to me and little did they know they were about to get there arss handed to them.. As I quickly took about a car and a half on them my GF looks back and reads there lips and the driver say's "what the F#$%"

You had to be there when he was waving soo proud but as I was passing his face droped and the wave SLOWLY died down into a hand just in the air.. I was LMAO!!! This all happened in a split second but gave me hours of thoughts..

I seen him again that day but he was on the other side of the road. Im sure he will want a rematch..

That must have been great! I beat an EVO yesterday...it wasn't on the up and up per se but a win is a win and I'll take it. I was ahead of him.

Re: Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

Not to take anything away from you. It was most likely a 96-98. This was the slowest production year that has been made for a long time. With all the bolt ons, this year GT was making no higher than 210 RWHP and not breaking a 14.30 in the 1/4 mile. On top of that it was 200-400lbs heavier than a coupe, so you can expect this car to be in the 14.70-14.50 range. You car should have beaten it. Now the newer 99+ Mustang GT's, well thats another story.

How do I know??? I own a 2001 GT Vert that runs 13.30 with just bolt ons. I am selling it to get a 2004 G35. I have been in the mustang game for years and am quite knowledgable about them. I know I am going to have a huge loss in straight line performance, but as I am getting older I am looking into a much better made, affordable, luxury sports car like the G35.

Re: Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

infidsg35,
I noticed on your Mods list you don't have the Technosquare ECU Upgrade. I probably gained over 3/10's with this mod alone. I was like you, in that I had the High Flow Cats & the Crawford Plenum. According to the Dyno, my Air/Fuel Ratio was WAY LEAN! I called T.S. They said this was a common problem wth our cars, when you open up the Intake & Exhaust they tend to run really lean. So as a friend did with his 350Z, I sent off for the T.S. ECU upgrade. It's the best money I've spent on my "G" yet. Not only is it more responsive in everyday traffic (Throttle tip-in is IMMEDIATE), it also seems to Pull much Harder. Best 1/4 mile to date w/ no traction & a fast traffic light type start is: 13.86@101.38mph.
Great Job w/ the Mustang! Take-Care........................

Re: Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

Well, if the lines in the rear tail lights were horizontal, it is a 94-95 with the 5.0L motor putting out 215 hp. If it was a 96-98, it would have vertical lines in the tail lights and the 4.6L motor putting out 260HP. The 94-95 were lucky to get into the 14's if it was a convertible. If it was an auto, he would be mid 15's. The 96-98's are much different and were low 14's stock, but an auto and covertible would bring it up to high 14's.

Not the fastest car out there!!! THe 99+ mustang though, should be a real close race.

Re: Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

I think they were vertical but not to sure. He passed me pretty fast the second time I saw him on the other side of the road..

Rug.. Yea I also just got the Nismo exhaust to add to the Stillen intake/Crawford cats/Crawford Plenum..

I havent done a dyno yet so I can see what my A/F is yet.. I want to get that b4 I do anything. I am going to the track this Sunday with the 350Z meet at Atco raceway. Those times I have listed are with the stillen intake and plenum and no traction LOL. But this year I will be in the 13's. I might get a pulley just to hold me over till I go SCer which will be the Vortec. But that might not be for a year as im buying a bike. So the TS might be in the near future but probably if only needed with the A/F problem but other then that Ill just wait till I get the Vortec or the worst case N20..

But thanx for looking out man and its good to see you picked up that much time with just the TS flash.. Was the transistion smoth? Did you tell him your mods? Did you send him a dyno with A/F?

Thanx

I want me some more rustange's!!!!

Re: Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

Your right about the taillights but wrong about the the two different years. The 94-95 came with the 5.0 pushrod engine. They are much more responsive to bolt ons and even though they were rated at 225bhp, they were alot faster than the 96-98's when adding bolt ons.

The 96-98's are the modular motors. They were rated for a bit more bhp, but they have NPI heads ( very restrictive) and poor flowing Intakes. They would barely break 210 RWHP with bolt ons unless they did PI headswap.

In 99, they added the PI heads and changed intake too. Woke the up big time. 99+'s are dynoing close to 230-240 RWHP stock. Much improvement over the 96-98 years!

Re: Raced another Mustang GT Funny tho..

infids... Yea, I sent Technosquare a list of my Mods & my Dyno Air/Fuel chart... I'm hearing good things about the U. R. Crank Pulleys. My partner in crime"CHOPS"(on this site) is getting his pulley this week, followed up with a dyno.
Happy Hunting & Take-Care...
