Post On the market for a G35 coupe

This is my first post and I'm in the market for a G35 coupe and wanted to get some feedback on what to look for in a used one. For example, what year model would you recommend? I have heard some years had a few problems like oil consumption. I'm looking to spend the money and be safe to buy a reliable car.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Spend time on the forums instead of asking questions.

2005+ MT Coupe-There is an uncommon problem known as oil consumption, due to a bad batch of seals. This isn't on every car, but there is no way to fix it except for a new engine.

Tire life is kinda low, there are some rattles, low gas mileage, but that's it really.

Good Luck

Then besides low gas mileage and kinda low tire life, you have nothing to worry about! Just the normal small stuff that pops up, but maintain it and that will be minimal since the G is a reliable car

If you live in a winter area, you will have to buy snow tires, since RWD sucks in the snow.

^^Thanks so much for that, yeah I live in PA so I would need snow tires then. I wouldnt be getting into modding it for now, just maybe debadge it and tint the windows. Then in the future go with wheels, and performance stuff like air intake and exhaust.

I drive about 30-40mins to get the office everyday btw.

low tire life? how many miles around?

What year would I be better looking at if i go with used car? 05 and +?

Thanks again

FYI tire life and gas mileage go hand in hand... for some reason, if you get better gas mileage your tires seem to last a bit longer.... I get poor mileage and have zero tread on my tires, I just found out earlier today that it is due to the common issue of "HFS" found with nearly all G35's on the roads. Watch out for that you should be just fine...

very low mileage but I would aim for an 05+ personally. you get the revup motor (more powerful) and a nicer interior imo

I want a Red or Black one, I will try to find a 05+ if I can. I would like it to have a max of 20K miles, automatic, black interior. I want to try to get one somewhere between $20-25K

Thanks for all the help, much appreciated

The 03-04 years have problems with the stereo head deck. The 05+ fixed this, and have the "REVUP" engine. Most DO NOT have oil problems, but if you do have consumption the dealers will work with you on a fix (new engine).

Like the others said, search the site and other sites (nicoclub.com is a good one) and make your choice. My advice is to buy the newest model you can afford.

Welcome!!

You can find a 2005 with 25,000 miles for 21,000 easy.
