The M45 and Q45 DO have corresponding Japanese Nissan counterparts.

Just for fun, the Cayenne is a rebadged Toureg :P

but that is only a product of marketing due to america's ignorance and stubborn-ness. and your very comment, just re-iterates that fact that ppl think that oh, it's just a nissan like it's a bad thing.

<hr></blockquote>

It has nothing to do with ignorance and stubbornness, so spare me the holier-than-thou attitude. Are you American? You must be Japanese. If not, perhaps you should move to Japan - you'll be happier there.

The whole Infiniti/Acura/Lexus concept is nothing new. In fact, its a direct copy of what Ford had done nearly a century ago with Lincoln, and GM had done with Cadillac.

This is Marketing 101. It's called market segmentation. In America, its particularly important because many Americans put a lot of value in a brand, and associate a brand with image and status, particularly with cars. More so than with most other countries. That doesn't make Americans "dumb" and "stubborn" - its a cultural issue, and yes, it is materialism. Some people hate materialism - that's fine - just don't go complaining about it here. There are plenty of socialist countries for you to live in where you can protest about how evil and dumb the materialistic Americans are.

In fairness, the Japanese took this market segmentation of creating a luxury brand a bit further than Lincoln and Cadillac did, in that they also created excellent service experiences, entirely different than their main brand. Lincoln and Cadillac service is still sketchy at best, and is on par with Ford and Chevy service. Infiniti service is generally a world better than Nissan service - my cousin owns both a Nissan Murano and an Infiniti J30 - he says the Nissan service sucks, and the Infiniti service is awesome.

So the whole Infiniti/Acura/Lexus concept is simply to sell more cars in the largest car market in the world. It's a marketing scheme only - nothing more. And Americans eat it up like fried chicken.

Re: Why not... Boxster S vs. Gcoupe

so are you trying to say that i have to be a "foreigner" to think that americans are stubborn and ignorant? what kind of dogmatic, ignorant thinking is that? i am 100% american--born and raised. but i still have an opinion. and my opinion is that here in america, people are set in their ways. think about the metric system. they tried it here but it never works out despite being the better and easier system because we can't do simple math in our head, perhaps?

and what you say about marketing...exactly!!!! they (the auto makers) had to distinguish a certain car from another because of preconceived notions of that "brand". that, my friend, is stubborn-ness. to call it cultural issues is just comical. i'm sorry but i find your response very racist ( or should is say culturally different only ). as far as materialism, we americans are not the only ones who are materialistic and associate certain characteristics (luxury, high-end, etc) with brand. last i check, asian ppl are quite known for extravagantly spending on designer brands. where i live, every asian girl carries a louis vuitton bag, gucci bag, or prada bag--this was way before it was commercialized by mtv. also, if you have ever heard of prada, it's HUGE in asia and europe. check and see how much a tiny prada keychain is...and you talk like only here in america....you make me laugh!!!!

to add, you're from newport beach, ca? i would have expected something different from a fellow cali-dude, where ppl are usually more open-minded with cultures and what not. from your response, i would have thought you were from arkansas--i've been there on a business trip and it's scary--rent the movie "deliverance".

You are correct sir...
<A HREF="http://www.autoindex.org/bodies.plt?no=450&***=2232">World Car Catalogue Infiniti M45</A>

What we here know as the Infiniti M45 is called the "Cedric" in Japan and the "Gloria" in Asian markets. (...don't ask me why...maybe it just sounds good)

I think eventually, when more and more Asians become fluent in English, owners of Nissan Glorias will all be scratching their heads asking "... d'you mean this big brawny musclecar I've been driving all this time is actually named after some middle-aged woman??" What I'm saying is, if you think all Americans are stubborn and ignorant, and America as a whole is a stubborn and ignorant country, well, not only are you WRONG, but you're anti-American. I mean come on man, you're an American - stand up for your country. Be proud. What the hell is this "stupid American" crap? Love it or leave it.

So I guess Great Britian is stubborn and ignorant as well? Anyone who doesn't use the metric system is stubborn and ignorant? That's kind of like saying anyone who doesn't speak Spanish is stubborn and ignorant. After all, Spanish is better and easier.

Incidentally, did you know that Boeing airplanes mostly use the metric system? Most American cars also use Metric bolts now too. My Corvette is mostly metric.

I'm glad I make you laugh. You make me laugh too

Shall we continue since we're having such a good time?

That's right. Why haven't you put where you live in your profile? Are you afraid, or ashamed? Actually, there's no need - I already know where you're from, its pretty obvious.

Actually, I'm a born and raised New Yorker. The TRUE melting pot of this country. Cali has NOTHING on NY as far as being multi-cultural. I'm about as open minded as they come actually - if you don't think I am, then you misunderstand me. Just because I don't agree with your opinions doesn't make me close minded.

And I resent you calling me a racist. You had better explain yourself with that one.

You should look in the mirror sometime, because all you've done is stereotype people, Americans in particular. Hell, you even stereotyped people from Newport Beach or CA!! In case you didn't know, stereotyping is a close cousin to racism.

I'm well aware of that. No need to get technical.

I love how people are always trying to prove how smart they are on this board.

Re: Why not... Boxster S vs. Gcoupe

first...canada can be counted as AMERICA since it didn't specific the STATES..so..i think z06ified didn't say anything wrong there...

how is new york the "TRUE" melting pot of the country? i really don't get it...do you guys have the most minority? noo..cuz why? cali does...do you guys have the most different kinda ethnicities?? noo..cuz cali does..so..please explain to me how NY is the TRUE melting pot of the country....no hate on NY or nothing..

you know..how u made the point "oh..so the british people are ignorant and selfish too since they use the english system?"..not to burst your bubble or anything...the ENGLISH people actually converted themselves to the metric system as well (i am british and american) we american are the only nation left behind with some stupid english system cuz ...i dunno why =)....cuz we like to do harder calcuation with base 16 base 8 base 12...but not base 10....

and i don't think the person who said stupid american in the sense of making bad choices in buying cars is wrong at all....majority of cars in america are from US company..which means..one of the big 3...ford...GM...chrysler...u know what..in my very very humble opinion..i do not think they make better cars than japanese do..i do not think they make cheaper car than japanese do..i do not think they make better car than german do..so..why do american keep buying some expensive...american car that is not reliable? i dunno..please someone tell me...

and no better how much u want it...g35 is not IDENTICAL to skyline..they are just based on the same chasis...thats it...no more no less.....so ya..and who cares about skyline anyway..it was always overblown in GT3 and stuff..thats pretty much it...i mean..most of u dun even have a luxery of sitting in one b4 ..i did.....

Re: Why not... Boxster S vs. Gcoupe

"Sacate a la chingada"

yo no comprendo. en english por favor.

off the topic here cuz this reminded me of something. when i was in philly, my friends and i would go clubbin' quite a bit. one of my friends approached this hot girl and tries to pick her up. she said to him, "i'm sorry, i don't speak english." this was with no accent and she was obviously white and just walked off. he got dissed big time!!!!
