High Pitched Engine Sound between 2k-3k RPM
Hey guys I hope someone on here can shed some light on my current situation. I recently purchased an 07 Coupe 6MT with 13800 miles. I've had it for about a month now and I keep noticing a clearly audible high pitch howl or whistle whenever my engine is within the 2k to 3k rpm range. It is its loudest around 2500 rpm. It sounds like a tuning fork resonating. At first I took into the dealer because I though it was my clutch squeaking but then I realized that it had nothing to do with the clutch I was just shifting within that range. I just had into the dealer and they said that they found nothing. I'm hoping this is characteristic of the engine or that at least someone is aware of this. Thanks
I have heard it across most gears, more often in the lower gears. It will sound as well when Im parked and revving it. It will only sound if I am within that rpm range. I say it does it about 70-75% of the time I am in that rpm window.
yea..i have an 07 6mt too, and i am experiencing the same exact thing. I kind of just ignore it because of all the other noises and rattles that come with the car. And like u mentioned...if u bring it to the dealer, they will prob just ignore it as well lol. but if anyone can shed some light on this, and if its something that can be fixed... let us know lol.
i noticed its the loudest in 1st and 2nd gear.

it's more than likely your stock intake
my 06 does that too and i'm 100% sure it's the stock intake
the stock intakes are built pretty well...hence why the aftermarket ones don't do much as for as improving efficiency.

I got 07 G35 6MT, i got it 3 weeks ago and i was wondering about the same thing, my car is completely stock.
After reading this thread i must agree that intake should be blamed, makes sense.
I am glad that i am not the only one who hears this noise and it looks like it is pretty common and not harmful. I can live with that sound so i will not worry about it any more.
Or should I? lol
