Help Me. Bought used G35
A little over 1 month ago I bought an 04 Infiniti G35 coupe. 6 speed
It has 66k miles on it now. I didnt notice when I bought it ,but there is a tapping in the motor.
I went back to the dealer I bought it from twice now about the noise, because i was covered under 30day MD used car warranty.
They both times, changed the oil.
So i call infiniti to schedule a diagnostic, and when they run the VIN they see that at 58k miles it was in the dealer for "motor tapping".
Basically at 58k, from the previous owner, having non oem intake, and other things on the car, cylinder 5 is hydrolocked, and bent piston rod or something rod for cylinder 5 also.
Because of him, with the non oem parts, the factory warranty is now void.
They suggest a new shortblock motor which is 8600$.
What can I do.. I just bought it a month ago, I didnt think it was possible to sell a car at a dealer with those problems...
Anything at all I can do here?

The warranty is not void. They have to prove any modifications done to the car have caused the problems. This is if you're in the United States, I don't know if this applies in other countries.
Go to your dealer and tell them about this, they will have to fix your car or PROVE what was done to the car has caused the damage.

It doesn't matter. I would assume most car dealerships know about this law, as it is was enacted by Congress. Read this:
Print out a legal copy, and/or contact a lawyer. You have a right to warranty service if:
Your car is still under the normal or extended warranty
They cannot prove that what modifications were done to the car caused the damage
The federal minimum standards for full warranties are waived if the warrantor can show that the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by damage while in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance.

As long as you are under a warranty, the dealership is legally bound to fix your car free of charge as long as those two conditions were met that I mentioned above. You should not have to pay anything. Again, print a copy of the act and go in there and tell them they have to fix your car. I would consider contacting a lawyer.

Well Im going on tomorrow for a new updated diagnostic,
as well as something happened to the clutch today..
every time i engage it, I hear metal hitting metal, like a cruching noise.
aswell as tire pressure sensor going bad, and 2 window motors.
Man, Im not having any luck with this car yet =/
Though the ladies do enjoy it =P

yep,
test drove it.
had father come look at it.
hes no mechanic, but still.
clean carfax.
I know the dealer will argue and argue void warranty, and they probably have something to back it up....
I got screwed out of around 27 I payed with taxes, and extended warranty.
Shoulda went new I guess... I might get the clutch fixed. trade it in, and get a new car.
Even tho i'll be taking 4-5k loss...

Wait a minute!!!!
You bought it at a dealer... and now the dealer is telling you that the warranty is void because of the intake that was on it before they sold it????
This means that THEY KNEW about the intake AND the engine problems when they sold the car to you!! Get a print out of the service record of the car immediately and tell them you are going to consult a lawyer unless they replace the engine or they can buy the car back from you and give you a COMPLETE refund!!!
That is BULL$HIT!!

I didnt buy it at an Infiniti dealer. Thats where the problem comes in.
I bought it at a pretty decent sized auto sales dealer.
They specialize in Infiniti, BMW, Lexus...
But yeah, they service tech on the phone at Infiniti said that non oem intake was on car when brought in for motor noise..
Cylinder 5 is hydrolocked and bent rod of something in cylinder 5.
I dont know what any of that means.
Other than he quoted me 8grand for shortblock motor
and factory warranty was void.

Take it back to where you bought it from then and tell them to give you a refund in full!! Contact the "BBB" and the Atty General... The dealership you bought it from KNEW it had these issues period, trust me... they do a check on all cars brought onto the lot...
Where did you buy it from?
