Get a statement of the diagnosis from Infiniti and take it to the dealer you purchased the car from. If it has not been 30 days since the purchase, under Maryland law they have to repair the car. Does the extended warranty limit you from taking the car anywhere to get it fixed? Normally third party extended warranties will pay for repairs as long as they are done by a certified repair shop. It is possible the previous owner had the Infiniti warranty voided for modifying the engine, however this has no bearing on the 30 day Maryland drive train warranty law, or your extended warranty covering the repair. You just have to prove that the repair is necessary. Once they agree to repair the engine, insist that they either repair the engine or replace with a new one. Do not accept them using an engine from the junk yard. I strongly suggest you get a lawyer. A person I work with went through the same thing, where there was engine coolant in the oil and the dealer chose to replace the motor with one from a junk yard, rather than repair the motor and it turned out that that motor seized up within a few weeks. Since it was longer than 30 days, she had no recourse and she is making payments on a car she cannot drive, nor can afford to have repaired.

Check into your states lemon law and perhaps get an attorney. Do not threaten them or get aggressive. They will push you further and further back. Just explain that you purchased the car from them as is and they sold you a lemon. Check into an attorney that will do it based on contingency. That means basically that he will only take your case if he thinks he can win because if he loses he pretty much gets nothing. You may have your dad go in with you when you go to the dealer. They will treat you like a kid I'm afraid. GL.

I think you will still be covered under the 30 day warranty because you brought it back to them within the 30 day limit and they said they would fix it (which they didn't). Good luck.

well i went to Infiniti, got the old service records printed and then took them to the dealer where I bought the car.

They were shocked to see what Infiniti recommended, but there taking the car in tonight, to I guess determine what to do.

So, I might be getting something done anywho.

umm you have at least a 30 day warranty from the dealer, if they did not disclose the problem, then that is illegal. What does your paperwork say? Plus you bought an extended warranty, it would e covered since they sold you the car with the aftermarketr part.

My guess is you'll be picking up a different but similar G from them (you said they had 5 others on the lot?). Good for you for hanging in there and let us know what happens.

One thing. Do not, do not, do not, do not pay extra for the substitute. They may try and say they need compensation for some added luxury, less miles, newer model tax and license for a different car, etc. They either give you a straight trade across (or newer for all your troubles) or you want your money back. Also, be sure to take the new VIN to Infiniti dealer and get the service records before you accept delivery. The guys your dealing with sound really shady.

Yeah I looked at 4 other ones today when I went there.
But can they just offer say a trade ?

But well see what they say, they might try to screw me over some how, replace something in the motor that has nothing to do with the hydrolock.

I dont know. I'll have to wait untill tomorrow to see whats happening.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Yes, they can offer a trade but you have a right to refuse as it is not what you purchased. You may want to consider that if they do try and offer you a different G. Whats to say the new one they are offering doesnt have some kind of damage that you wont find this time even though it may look newer and shinier?

Its up to you but I'd say these guys have already proven themselves untrustworthy. I'd be getting my money back a.s.a.p., and then search these forums, talk to a few people, use the search button and I'll bet you find something better to put that $27k into.

Wow.. What a story. The $100 point inspection by Infiniti is definitely worth it. It's a hassle but can save you in the long run...

ask for the old parts. They have to let you see them. Also you said it had a clean carfax report. did they print it out for you or did you do it yourself? I hope everything goes well, but you should have shopped around. My roommate got an '04 with 17K for less than 20 and that was last December. Granted it was a sedan but at this time of the year you could have done ALOT better, even at the dealership.

I wouldn't accept a trade; you paid $27k for a 04 with 60k+ miles. Even if the car was in mint condition, they ripped you a new one on the price. A car that year and mileage should run you $18k tops if it was flawless. And also as others have said, these guys have already proven themselves untrustworthy, I would demand a refund and get as far away from them as possible.

i think you are better off with a refund, i bought my 03 coupe with ken style bodykit, 50k miles, 5at, for about 14k out the door from a dealer about a month ago, i had the $100 inspection done also...

you can do much better...and get a proper inspection!

clean carfax.

I know the dealer will argue and argue void warranty, and they probably have something to back it up....

I got screwed out of around 27 I payed with taxes, and extended warranty.

Shoulda went new I guess... I might get the clutch fixed. trade it in, and get a new car.

Even tho i'll be taking 4-5k loss...
No you got a BAD car. ESPECIALLY if you had problems THIS soon.. Sounds like someone had all those modifications and dogged it out. They most likely had a cold-air intake. I would have never made it to Day 31. if you had problems, you should have hit an independent dealer FIRST, and then went back to the dealer where you bout it WITH the print out of the diagnostic. Since when does an oil change fix Engine Damage? LOL
