Question An odd smell...

Since it has started to snow up here I have been noticing an odd smell coming from my G. It almost smells like burning rubber or radiator fluid. I cant see any leaks on my garage floor. I did check the coolant level and it was barely below the minumum mark. I did add some to get it over the minimum mark. Should you check the coolant levels when the engine is cold or will it make a difference? Im curious if the smell is just salt and grime building up and burning off under the car? Anyone else experience a smell once the snow arrives?

Few times I got funny smells from the heater, almost like burning cheese. Only few times, not anymore.

Coolant/antifreeze has a sweet smell. Be very careful when handling it. A tablespoon can kill an adult human if ingested.

As far as checking the coolant level you have to open up the radiator cap. The level you just described is the overflow tank. Once you open up the radiator cap the true level of your coolant can be seen. A full level is if the fluid is an inch below the snout of the cap. Make sure to check the coolant level when the car is cold.

NEVER OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WHEN THE CAR IS HOT. YOU WILL BURN YOURSELF.

Whats up HotelCrazy from 6mt. Stage2 check for your hoses touching the timing chain cover up front. This area seems to get the hottest and the hose clearance is minimal. I did notice a slight propane type smell when hot after switching to Redline diff. & tranny fluid.
