Re: 2005 G35 Link Official from INFINITI!!!!!!!

I finally purchased my 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe from Atlantic Infiniti in Long Island, NY about a month ago. I had originally planned to go and view their selection of used G35, but after speaking to a great salesman, I was made an offer that I couldn't pass up. The car cost me $35,250 before taxes, title, etc. I was told the order would be placed June 1st and the car would arrive either the first or second week of September(or so I was told). I purchased a 2005 Infiniti G35 Automatic Coupe w/ Leather. Diamond Graphite Exterior w/ Graphite Interior. Premium Package / Performance Tire & Wheel Package / 4-Piece Aero Kit / Aero Package / Splash Guards. I'm now wondering if this would be considered the new sports coupe or just the coupe with options added on. Does anyone know the difference between the two? I really want those 19's! Any ideas on what I should expect to receive?

Your best bet is to call the dealer and verify exactly what your ordered. You can not have the 4 piece aero kit and the aero package. The price sounds very low, especially if it is a 2005.

I will definitely call the dealership as soon as I get out of work. The salesman wrote out "4-piece aero kit, Aero Package, Splash Guards" on the invoice. I guess the car would just show up with the kit on it since it includes the other two items. Anyway the reason for the cheap price is because he based the 2005 G35 coupe off the 2004 price. In addition he gave me $1500 off the 2004 G price. (plus this was before the $250 price increase back in May) I'm still wondering if this would be the new coupe or the new sports coupe though. Guess I'll just have to call and hope for the best.

The only two things that excite me are the smoother shifting and the 19 inch wheels. Both have remedies on my 04 model so the 05 is no big deal to me.
Regarding smoother shifting, does anybody have any suggestions on how to achieve this. New aftermarket clutch??? Different shifter perhaps such as the Rogue engineering shortie shifter???

This is a very interesting thread. It is funny to hear the varying reactions. Alot of 03 and 04 owners are pissed off, but the car appears to be getting better which is good. I am very jealous of the 19s, 15hp, and "smoother" shifter, but I am not about to run out and buy a new car over it. I have an 03 6MT Coupe and have enjoyed driving it around last summer and this, as it has turned heads and continues to do so. The coupe continues to be one of the best cars out and the changes just help to maintain this position, so I am happy. Congrats to the new 05 owners. I want that GT-R and when that comes out I may have to find a way to trade up, until then....

If your a current owner and are moaning over the slight changes for 2005 then get a grip.

Everyone is losing site of the fact that had you waited until December 05 to receive your new 6mt (not driveable in the NE until March) you would have given up 10 months of driving time. Is it worth waiting all that time for these upgrades? I think not.

In addition, while the price increase may only be $450.00 (hard to believe). The 05's are going to sell at MSRP for a while. I don't know about you guys but I got 3K off MSRP last month.

Would I like +15hp and 19's, of course, but its not worth $3,450.00.

Is it me or do the people selling used coupes on the site not realize you can buy a new one for less??

Re: 2005 G35 Link Official from INFINITI!!!!!!!

The replacement of the clock for the 2005 models is a cost-effective measure for Nissan. In Japan, all Nissan Skylines, both Sedan and Coupe, do not have an analog clock. For the 2003-2004 models, they had to specifically manufacture a completely different dash mold and HVAC trim for just the US-bound Infiniti G35 models. With the 2005, they eliminate that cost by giving all JDM and USDM vehicles the same exact dash components.

In any case, I personally like my 2004 G35 Sport Coupe 5AT design more than the proposed 2005 model. Maybe that will finally bring down the price of the 18" wheels so I can buy an affordable replacement for wheel scruffs. I also like the option of being able to perform a double-DIN replacement in my 2004. This probably isn't possible with the 2005s.

I just don't understand you guys.

Why the hell are many of you (not all of you) bashing the new 2005 to a pulp?
It certainly does not deserve it.
If you really think the car is crap then why don't you go somewhere else and talk about something completly different?
Alot of us have long since sold our cars, and have been eagerly awaiting the 05's for months. We love the G35, with or without whatever changes they end up making, and that is why we will buy one. Why can't you just be happy with what you have?; or else go replace it with another G35 or something else? Why drag the G35 through mud just because you say you don't like it?

Your statements come across as vindictive, hateful, and jealous. (you sound like the Golem: 'give me my precious, my precious . . .it is prettttierr than yourrrssss . . .')

Absolutely pethetic.
Get a grip men.

Many of us who are buying this car, will buy it regardless of what you say. We will own it with pride and genuine enthusiasm. We could care less what comes out a year or 2 down the road. We can can deal with those future cars in the future. But for now, we will buy our G35, we will love our G35, and we will drive our G35 with liberty and justice for all.

God Bless America!

Infiniti will not be removing the analog clock anytime soon. They tries it once before and received a serious backlash of complaints. Remeber - for now - Infiniti is a US brand.

In that picture of the G35 on the infiniti website, what is that pedal to the left? Just a place to rest your foot? It looks to me like the clutch and gas pedal are switched..Maybe its just me...Sometimes i got some messed up perception

As Dan said, the numbers don't add up. All these changes and only $450 more? I doubt that... You would think Nissan is smart enough to know that they can increase price more than 450 and get away with it. Afterall, they are in the business of making money.

Remember that they increased the price on the '04s by $250 on May 14th, less than 2 months before they start taking orders on the '05s. It might have been partly to make the '05 increase look smaller. So you could consider the '05 increase as $700 if it makes you feel better. Furthermore, '03s (like mine) were $250 less than the '04s, so the total difference there is close to a grand.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing! I would have thought that people would have left the G-bashing to the TL and BMW crowds.

Looks like one more thing to add to the list of arguments:
1. Coupe Vs. Sedan
2. Manual vs. 6MT
3. Street racing versus Track Racers
4. G vs. Z
5. Vehicle Color
6. 05+ versus old style...

04, TB/W, Nav, Aero, 6MT, Z-tube/ZWT, etc...

Re: 2005 G35 Link Official from INFINITI!!!!!!!

would the 05' 6MT with closer gear ratio, 100lb lighter wheels, and 15 more hp be pretty quicker now? maybe 0-60 in 5.5? 1/4 in 13.9?

Re: 2005 G35 Link Official from INFINITI!!!!!!!

are the wheels (19) lighter than the 18's of today??

that might be interesting to find out (and if they are gonna use an agressive tread like the pilot)

ilike the more scriptive gauge text, and overall shapes of things.......

i also like the demise of the tape player..... shame no mp3 hookup is in its place!

i will reserve comment on the 15hp till the true and final specs are done (betting its a revamped inatke or something)

-eS

ps- NOT selling my 04 , just yet..............

Re: 2005 G35 Link Official from INFINITI!!!!!!!

i honestly like the new gauge cluster. I wouldn't mind replacing that down the road. I guess i'm not too irritated about the new aluminum center console because i already have my double din kit from j garage coming in for my 2nd tv.
