New Member needs help deciding: Manual vs. Auto
#61
I live in the Wahington D.C area, never had a manual before. Just bought a 05 OB 6mt coupe. Other than being fustrated the first 3/4 days that I couldn't drive it like an experienced manual driver, I have no regrets. Its been 2 weeks now and I love it...and I have only been driving for 2 weeks! I will be drifting and doing donuts before the month is up....don't get an auto if you love cars and driving.

the 6MT is more fun and definitely more respectable
not to mention you gain over 20hp just by getting the manual transmission..
you will get used to the traffic but if you live in new york city or some other metropolis,
(where there is no open road and only traffic) then get the auto...
thats what I would do..

isnt that what they do at the dealer ship? sell u ****.. of course their gonna tell u ur as fast as any other car on the road "exact comment dealer tried to pitch me". but u are there is a diff between 6mt rev up and auto revup G's.. not sure and dont quote me but there is a upside and a downside to having a downside i think something like more torque on MT and more hp on auto..

It sounds like I would be cheating myself out of a lot of fun if I bought an auto, Thanks to all your input I have decided to go manual. Now I'm on the hunt for a car. What's this about the hp/torque differences between years? Is there any way to find out concrete details about these stats?
