how bad is this???
Re: how bad is this???
what is your interval for changing the oil? Sounds like it is over 3000. as long as the oil isn't black when it was changed, you're fine. I spoke with some reps from Mobil-Exxon and another lube company and they said if you use synthetic, the oil would last 7000 miles or more but you should change the filter halfway through. Synthetics have a higher capacity of suspending particulates and junk than organics.
Re: how bad is this???
first oil change was at 3450 with dyno. 2nd was due at 7200 but as i stated didn't happen until 9000. unfortunately i did not see the oil so cannot report on its state. what do you think? with the 3rd change i will switch to syn. another question is, how long shall i wait for the 3rd--10,000 as originally scheduled, or longer? thanks

How exactly do you do that without dumping the oil on the ground?
2 G or NOT 2 G, there is no question!
Injen SES, Kinetix cats, K&N Typhoon, 19" PIAA Super Rozza's (19x9 & 19x10)

This is the same mumbo-jumbo BS you hear from some other synthetic companies about "change the oil filter half way thru". It's a bit, well, crazy! Not to mention, messy.
Even if you were to keep your car 150,000 miles which supposedly takes the average driver over 12 years to drive, your savings over that 12 years is about $34 per year. Per year?
Do the math: say Mobil One @ $4/quart x 5 quarts every 3,500 miles =s a total spent for just oil of $857 (during 150,000 miles) .
If you "only" change the oil every 7,000 miles, that means it costs over the same 12+ years $429.
Savings =s $428 in 12 years.
First of all, practically none of us will keep the car 12 years. Second, we probably won't dump out oil, collect it, and then pour it back in---what a mess! Third, we'll take one look at the old oil and recycle it---to a recycling center! And finally, those of us who use synthetic regularly will probably stretch out the oil change interval to about 5,000 miles, plus or minus. So, we'll save a little and get a whole lot better lubrication and engine protection than regular oil.

Whoa! 1800 miles?! Jkb, eventhough my brother is the divorce attorney in the family, I know that has to be grounds for divorce. You should also ask for a new coupe as part of the divorce settlemment. ha ha
