Test-drove a g35 for the 1st time

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I test-drove a 6mt '05 coupe and since it's my first time driving a G, I noticed some stuff that I just want to check if they are normal for G's or they are problems with that specific car.

1- when I apply the brakes hard, I hear a grinding like noise and the car would just slide before stopping.

2- when I apply pressure while turning, the car would just slip very easily just like on icy roads.

Also, how much do you guys think would it cost to fix some small dents on the driver's door?

The car has 67K miles on it and I dont remember what kind of wheels it had but they were not the stock ones.

Thanks in advance

Rotors are probably trashed. How fast are you going when you turn? What shape are the tires in?

^many of us 03'ers have way more miles than that and we don't get these brake and tire problems.. get some brembos or quality rotors, then get some Michelin PS2, Eagle F1, or Potenzas. problem solved

Well assuming that it's all stock, that's a lot of miles to put on those brakes and not change them.

The first time I drove a G I got a little squirrely with it too. Maybe you just might need to get used to the power

be honest with yourself...the g35 is a pretty slow car. this car has poor weight distribution. traction is a constant issue. personally, i think the suspension/camber on this car is off from the factory. you'll go through tires just as quick as you do gas!

i've gotten pretty annoyed and fed up with the handling of this car.

Well its the fastest car I've owned since high school and even that car barely pulled 13's. The weight distribution on the G35 is almost 50/50 and under hard acceleration its exactly 50/50. The engineers produced the car that way.

Its by far the best handling car I've ever driven. Except on wet roads. I have NT555's on mine and they're horrible on wet roads.

Quality rotors (OEM or Stoptech, maybe others) will run you 300-400 for all 4 corners, but you might not need the rears, so check with RiversideInfiniti, they sponsor this forum.

Tires, assuming OEM 19's, those PS2s, Eagle F1s, and Potenzas aren't cheap. If you buy new, any of those brand will cost you around a grand for all 4's. If you want to go cheaper you can get Falken 452 or Toyo T1r, they're forum favorites too

btw my name is Cheng

You sure you know what you are talking about? Laugh at you on the poor weight distribution.

sorry i meant power to weight...thought one thing and said another.

i came from a wrx before this car. the g35 doesn't even compare to the wrx. my brother has my subaru now and i can't keep up. whether its from a 20mph roll or on turns, i'm done. i'm still on the stock tires, but after looking at the tread of them at only 18k miles, they are literally destroyed, its sad. and i drive like your 80 year old grandma never taking off traction control. i switched to blizzaks for the winter and even on moderately cool dry days my VDC is flashing non stop. its like a tractionless pig on the road.

i'm sure some coilovers, sway bars, and camber kits would help. but i feel this car requires too much work and money to be put in to perform like it should from the factory.
