New Guy here... ?s about VDC
Hey im a maxima owner and am seriously thinking about buy a G in the next few months and have a few questions about it if you dont mind. I am getting an auto (60 mile commute in Atlanta traffic= no fun with a manual) When i test drove the auto Z i turned off traction control-floored it and the wheels spun for a good 20-30 feet before going through the gears... put a nice smile on my face. Then i test drove the auto g and turned the VDC off expecting the same thing. However I couldnt even get the wheels to spin. Its still really fast past 2k rpms.... SO the question i have does VDC include traction control? and if so why isnt it the same as the Z?
sorry for the long post... but thanks in advance for your answers

Re: New Guy here... ?s about VDC
well it might have been my imagination but i thought i could feel the power decrease the harder i stomped on in from a standstill...which would be a good indication of traction control....but the VDC was off. Anyway its still a great car , i was just a little dissappointed with that
Re: New Guy here... ?s about VDC
There is a Viscous Limited Slip Differential option that not all Gs or Zs have. This is different than the Vehicle Dynamic Control.
If you turn off VDC on both cars, and one car has VLSD and the other does not, you will notice a difference in wheel spin.
Also, if it was terribly hot outside you will notice a difference in performance, and finally, the tackiness of the road and tire will result in a difference.
Furthermore,
The G and the Z will have differences in rear wheel horsepower as well as flywheel horsepower, not to mention weight. Which Z were you driving? Which wheel/tire did it have? Which driveshaft did it have? What were the weights of each car? Etc etc. We need more information to help you.

i was driving an enthusist auto Z .... with aftermarket 19s
the g was the one with VLSD (i think), factory 18s and yes it was hot as hell outside. I bet it did have VLSD... that would make sense. I kinda want to get one without it then

You WANT LSD. The Infiniti VLSD isn't the best, but it's nice enough for what I like to do. If you just like spinning tires then put a blower on it or some snow tires
.
If you plan on doing serious racing at the track or cruising at Freaknik, don't bother with the 18" wheel OR the VLSD, because you'll want to replace both anyway. If you just want a great daily driver that let's you manhandle I285 or Peachtree Street, then the factory 18"s and VLSD will be more than enough.

All G35s (with manual or perf package), past, present, and near future have V-LSD. None of them have the T-LSD (mechanical type). There was a thread about this a few weeks back.
