Talk about Robbing Horsepower and MPG...

I've had my car for almost a month now, been changing the brakes, oil, etc. I peeked at my air filter about a week ago and it was hard to see but I could tell it was dirty.

Yesterday I decide to change it, holy crapp it was the best move I've made! That thing was fillltyyy!!! I really wasn't expecting it to be that bad since my car only has 26k miles!! I'm almost positive this is the original filter

Ever since I got the car I felt like it got a bit sluggish at the higher rpm, as if it couldn't breath right, my brother noticed this too.

That problem is gone!! It accelarates wayyyy better and the rpms climb much faster then before. I know I know it could all be in my head, but no this really made a difference. I just put a Z Tube and didn't feel much, but this was definitly killing my HP!!

I'll update and see how much better MPG I get once my tank goes empty (that's if I can keep my heavy foot off the gas).

I SUGGEST EVERYONE TO GO LOOK AT THEIR FILTERS, IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON FOR OUR FILTERS TO GET DIRTIER QUICKER THEN OTHER CARS. (Your suppose to change it at 30k miles, I have 26k!)

HERE'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

HERE'S THE OTHER SIDE (CLEAN SIDE):

Looks like the previous owner drove the thing through Afghanistan or something.

I wonder what your In-Cabin filter looks like? Can't be in much better shape than that thing is.

This car was from up North so I don't know if the snow and crapp had to do with this dirty *** filter...

I need to search up on the cabin filter and change it, it does smell kind of weird when I turn on my AC or heater.

Yea at 18,xxx my filter was dirty already. Made the move with the K&N filter and my goodness does the butt dyno feel it. After consecutive highway on ramp pull it was obvious there was a big change. Better throttle response, faster climb to redline, and best of all fuel economy was the same as when I granny drive it with a dirty filter.

Your poor G. Now go stuff a sock in your mouth and run a few miles on a hot day and see how you like it

Some people just don't give a rat azz!

The very first mod I made to my G was to buy a K&N drop in, when I installed
my Stillen CAI I gave the K&N to my son-in-law for their '04 sedan. Three
years later we were cleaning up his sedan in my garage and I inquired when
had he cleaned the filter....he hadn't! I couldn't believe my eyes when I
removed the filter, were talking close to 50K miles. It was sooooo bad you
couldn't see the folds and they're was at least an inch of grey matter
clinging to the incoming side. I spent no less than an hour cleaning and
drying until it looked like new. The next day I asked him how the G was
running and had he noticed any difference, his answer was "not really!"
How someone can take care of the outside of their cars and not be concerned
with how it runs is beyond me....
