Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!
Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!
Hey guys,
As you all have probably seen my old post about my driver side window, you know that I was pretty ill and upset about the whole fiasco. So here we are again....this time with my dang passenger door!
Only thing this time is that my window isn't stuck down, it just acts weird with Auto Down and Auto Up. When I hit auto down, it goes down like it is supposed to. However, when I hit Auto Up, it goes up fast and then lowers half-way by itself!!! What the heck is the deal with that?! I am getting tierd of dealing with what should be a "non-issue". I just don't see how a high $$ car has this type of issue? Were Infiniti engineers on drugs when they made these windows? I mean, even my old crappy car's windows never gave an issue.
Any advice would be welcomed. If any of you are dealing with something similar, please complain to Infiniti Consumer Affairs as something needs to be done.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!
Sorry to hear that you're having all these problems with your windows. This is just a guess, but maybe your passenger window thinks something is blocking the path of the window, which is causing it to go back down. The only time my window ever went almost all the way up and then down to the 1/2 way point was when I was going over 110 and the wind resistance simulated enough force to think a hand or something was in the way.
Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!
I am having this exact problem with my drivers side window. Took it to the dealer and they said they could not reproduce it. Funny how as soon as I left the dealer I could reproduce it. So I am going back this saturday.
Does you window go down the 1/4" that is used to do when you open the door? My drivers side only goes down about 1/16th of an inch. While the passenger door goes down about a 1/4". Passenger window works fine, while the drivers side does not. The dealer said they reset the window but obviously that did not fix it. I am going to stay while they fix it saturday and see if they can reproduce it, if not, i am hopping in the car and damnit i will get it to "not" work.
Let me know how you make out. I'll post again to let you know how I made out after saturday...

adiFUFitz,
I have not really seen that much of a difference (here lately) on how the windows lower when I open the doors, however, I have seen it change from time to time, so I know it happens. My most pressing issue is the the "Auto-Up" feature with it suddenly going back down half-way. Just like what someone mentioned, it is like something is caught in it, but nothing is there. I have tried this while staying stationary and while driving and there is no difference.
I will be going back to my dealer once again this weekend to see what the cause is. Its unfortunate that I have to put 90+ miles to have a dang window checked. I'll keep you all updated and please feel free to post more comments about this issue. Thanks for your time.

they wont replace mine unless they see it happening. ive gone for 2 oil changes and told them about it but they wont replace it until its seen. " they must think im making it up" because they seemed to be clueless on what is going on. oh well ill keep reminding them. but if its happening on a number of our coupes, could it be a future recall? i have an 04, not sure about everyone elses but if its alot of 04's i see a recall in future. just a guess though.

Birds04G35,
You are exactly right, it should be a "recall" or some great explanation as to why these issues keep occuring. However, even though tons of coupes are experiencing this...03's and 04's, I was told to call and complain to Infiniti Consumer Affairs as my dealer really wouldn't do anymore than just replace parts...yadda yadda yadda.
I am pleased that its covered under warranty, but multiple visits should not have to take place....this is a bigger issue and needs proper attention as I don't think it was a priority when the car was made/designed. In the meantime, I continue to get made fun of by my peers as my so called high $$ car must be inferior to "car x"....oh well, I know its a good vehicle, just hate being ragged about it and having to deal with it in the first place. Feel free to post your thoughts and feelings....it helps knowing that I am not alone on this fight. Thanks for your time.

Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!
and another thing. i had just recently had a subwoofer and amp installed in my car. and when i told them about the window. they asked me if i had done anything to the car so i told them and they said that could be a possibilty. now i highy doubt an amp connected to the stock amp would cause a window problem. i think they were just throwing up ideas because they have no idea whats going on.
Re: Absolutely Ridiculous: More Window Woes!
i am on my 4th regulator on my drivers side. it is just a poor design. my passenger window goes down 1/2 inch when i open the door and my driverside goes down 1/16 of an inch. infiniti just has a poor design. a guy i work with has a 95 bmw 32? (don't remeber if it was a 321 or 325) and his windows had never given him a problem they both go down a 1/4 inch when you open the doors, and the car is 9 years old. the reason why the bmw still works good is because the bmw uses good old gears and motors. our cars use regulators with motors and cables!!

^^^ Ironically, my friend has a 1997 BMW 3 series that has the same problems we're experiencing in our G35 coupe. He has taken it to the BMW dealership 3 times and they tell him that there isn't a problem.
