Turbos eliminate most of the rasp anyways. My car has twins and zero rasp with straight pipes.

Mods to my '04 G35 5AT

First and foremost, I'm new, inexperienced, and fairly uneducated... I'm working on that part. But, I have interest in getting into my car and doing a bit of work. Advice, criticism, complaints, suggestions, and opinions are all welcomed here, as this list is not comprehensive, complete, exclusive, nor inclusive; it is a baseline by which to start, and to show you guys the direction I want to go with Nessy (my coupe). At times, things I say or post may sound really stupid... it probably is really stupid. Please let me know if that's the case, as I probably have some misguided thought about what it is I'm talking about, and I would like to learn through this process. Thanks in advance, and here it goes:

-- Engine, Exhaust, Air flow:

- Borla - Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...s-1222331.html

- Borla - Stainless Steel Headers - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...s-1221535.html

- Injen - SP Series Cold Air Intake - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...ke-360334.html
*** I will probably buy the cover for the filter (<$20), since I live in an area where it rains a ton, and there's not much protection for splashing where the intake filter sits.***

- New HFCs or something similar. This is one of the things I'm still learning about, and feel that I need to know more about, prior to making a decision.

- Motordyne 1/2" Iso Thermal Copper Plenum Spacer - http://www.motordyneengineering.com/index.php?cPath=1_5

- New MAF, possibly. Dependent upon need for one!

- Tune up - Spark plugs, fluid flushes, etc., to compliment the new parts

-- Brakes, Suspension:

- Wilwood - Street Performance Drilled and Slotted Brake Kit (front and back sets) - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...-16004875.html

- KSport - Slide Kontrol Coilover Kit - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...-14871945.html

-- Body, Cosmetics, and Wheels:

- Spyder - Black Halo Projector Headlight with LEDs - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...-35747284.html

- Dorman Side Mirrors (passenger side needs replaced, so why not get both replaced, and get them heated? XD) - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...-16073917.html

- VIS Racing - K Speed Style Rear Bumper - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...-13009594.html

- VIS Racing - Fuzion Style Carbon Fiber Hood - http://www.carid.com/2004-infiniti-g...-13005943.html

- Front Bumper! Aggressive looks, and functionality are top priority, as the new intake sits low in the bumper, I would want plenty of airflow through the grills, to help push air.

** Wheels:
This section is a lot of ideas. Not for sure what I want yet, but I'd love to hear what you guys think!

- Andros R9 - http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...lar=Base+Model

- Advanti Racing FS Fastoso - 19x8.5F, 19x9.5R - http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...lar=Base+Model

- Advanti Racing BO Bella - 19x8.5F, 19x9.5R - http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

- ENKEI Tuning Series - T6S - http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...lar=Base+Model

- ENKEI Tuning Series - TS9 - http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...lar=Base+Model

***Any suggestions you guys have for rims are appreciated although, I am pretty picky.

- Tires - Completely dependent upon the rims I get!

-- Extra Stuff:

- Any harnesses, or other hardware that I will need (yet to be seen)
- ECU flash
- Chip upgrade, possibly
- With new parts come new problems, I'm sure. I'll have to buy some extra things to make sure it all fits together, and/or just put some extra elbow grease into it.

That's all for now folks! Let me know what you think!

you have some good mods and some not so good ones
Namely wheels, bumper and headlights and injen intake
Also your "ecu flash-chip" , just take that out of your vocabulary
Osiris tune
That is it

Also use some of our vendors for sometimes better pricing

explanations

Like I said, I'm still pretty dumb on this topic, so could you just explain a bit more about what's good/ bad about the ones you've noticed in particular. Also, osiris tune is my new vocabulary.
Thanks!

you're good
Better coming here for info than the Fb groups

The bumper choices are imo just ugly
Look at the bodykit thread and find one you may like better

Shoot for quality with your wheel choice
Even better lightly used
Work, Volk, SSR. All very good choices that will have great resale value

i'd ditch the injen intake or just use it as a short ram (i.e., don't connect the lower pipe). it makes no difference in performance (intakes on our cars are just for sound) and you won't have to worry about getting your filter wet.

why do you think you need a new MAF?

don't get those headlights. many of the aftermarket options for our cars don't allow you to aim the lenses, which could end up blinding folks driving towards you. '06-07 projectors are a better option.

The hood and rear bumper...well, I agree with jersey's post above.

So, here's a question, realistically, how much of an increase in performance do you think I could see with upgrades like this? I've finally found a place where I can get the tranny/valve body/ torque converter upgrade to actually do things with FI if I want, but I wanted to go this route, first. I've always read that bolt-ons/ the stuff listed here isn't really going to get much out of the car. Mostly just for sound.

The reason I chose those headlights is because they actually had reviews and people said they were awesome (although, I think that just kinda furthers the point that it should be based off the opinion of people driving towards you lol).

If intakes are just for sound, do you know any that have a good tone to them? I'm a fan of the lower, deeper grumbles.

I didn't know if I needed a MAF or not, due to having new intake, etc. Like I said, only if I needed one.

I think I'm gonna just skip the whole body kit thing ATM. I like the idea of having a sleeper car (after I actually get in to working on the FI portion of things).

Thanks for the opinions and help!
