I'm looking to get a resonated test pipe but i should probably get a HFC considering the smell the test pipes will let through

 

Hello, I am looking to replace my headlights for my 2005 G35 coupe; mine look old and are getting hard to clean. I want something more modern looking, so please let me know if anyone can recommend good quality headlights. Thanks in advance.

The smell is over criticized IMHO. All old school muscle cars had "the smell" which for me added a certain coolness. Depending what you want out of a test pipe/HFC the Motordyne Art pipes are the most well-rounded mod out there. I will admit it, I have a man crush on Tony over there. His contributions to the Infiniti/Nissan performance scene are bordering at this point on being legendary.

There's tones of those on eBay but they look cheap and tacky IMO but if you like it then you should get it

 

I honestly don't understand the hype around muscle cars maybe because I grew up in Malaysia and surrounded by JDM cars instead. I'm planning to get a HFC or the ART pipe next year because I'm a student and I'm just slowly saving up money to buy parts hence the lack of focus on the performance build. Plus I'm not looking to track my G until I get a daily driver which will be when I graduate and start working and I can afford to turbocharge it 😬

 

There is no reason to turbocharge a G this old. A new engine and car maybe, by that time you start tracking you don't need a turbo even. The best track cars come NA for a reason.

Can't go wrong with Tony's (motordyne's) contribution here, they make the best test pipes for Sound and Performance. Tony was LITERALLY a rocket scientist lol. He will personally answer any phone calls related to technical questions.

 

Well its either bolt ons or turbocharger. Stock G is just not fast enough. And with motordyne, I love their TDX2 and the ART pipes are just pure magic but I have to factor in the shipment cost when considering american made parts. And shipment to NZ would normally double the price

Considering Tomei instead of motordyne simply because it is cheaper to ship

 

I think this explains it. I was a teenager here in the States in the mid-late 70's and the '68 and up muscle cars were all the rage. A large reason was the EPA's detrimental (IMHO) decision to regulate car's power and fuel consumption starting in 1974. All of a sudden new Mustangs (and many other cars) that used to have over 300 HP were rolling off the assembly line with 110. Made the muscle cars that more important for us enthusiasts. I had a '72 Cutlass 442 in high school and despite the fact that never in the time I owned her was everything working like it should at one time, that was a bad azz ride that I miss even today.

She used to be my favorite car ever until I bought my 06 GTO last year. But I still wish to this day I had kept the 442, maybe someday soon I'll start looking for another one.

 

So I've installed the HKS muffler (picture attached) and took it for a drive around the hills. I noticed that the car has a lot of body roll. Should I fix that with wider tyres or sway bars or stiffer springs? I was planning to get the Tein 350z S-Tech springs but my muffler turned out huge and I think lowering the car is just gonna cause the muffler to scrape

 

I may just be a bit much of a purist - but while they all can help with the body roll, I would opt for the sway bars to handle the body roll since that is its main job unlike the other two options.

 

Will just the rear sway bar suffice?

 

Yes - the rear sway bar is the important one to change out. Just remember this simple formula - if the rear is stiffer than the front, you get more oversteer which is good for handling. If the front is stiffer than the rear, you get more understeer which basically means you are not turning.

Stiffer rear / softer front = oversteer
Stiffer front / softer rear = understeer

While I would not suggest it, I have a few friends who don't even run a front sway bar on their cars for the better handling characteristics.
