Newb introduction!

What's up guys, I'm a new member. Currently don't own a G but looking to purchase one within the next few months or so. I currently drive a 2001 GS300 and am a clublexus member. I just had a few questions that i was hoping you guys could help me out with.

1. I'm looking between the years of 04-06. Any specific problems to worry about? I've heard about inner tire wear on the fronts but camber correction is not a problem (i'll be looking toward suspension mods in the beginning). Also, i know the 06's have the projector headlamps, and a couple other minute differences. What other differences are there?

2. What specialist sites are there for mods for the G? I know for lexus we have carson, sewell, and a few others. Besides stillen and big names like that, where's the best place to look around?

I look forward to contributing to the community and hopefully repping a unique and impressive G for the northeast in the coming months

Theres alot of differences in 04 and 06. Major one being the rev up engine with the MT. Putting out 18 more hp. Interior is also alot different, a lot nicer might I add. Bluetooth, Porjector headlights, new tail lights, new spoiler, memory seats, new navi system i believe. Just to name a few things. If I were in your situation I would lean heavily toward an 06+. You have to think that 06 isnt that new. Going on 3 years old now. G/L with your purchase and use the search theres alot of good info on this site.

1. 04 had different seats from what I can remember than 05+ also with 05+ your looking at a revup engine which has a higher horsepower rating but lower tq rating than the 03-04. If your looking at 6MT then 04 is gonna have brembo brakes from the factory and the 05+ are left with Infiniti brakes which are supposed to preform just as well. Inner tire wear is a problem but I havnt seen any of that on my car. 06+ had the projector headlights (everyone upgrades to these) as well as a chrome button on the tail light to pop the truck (previous models dont have anyway to do this and require either the button inside the car or on your remote to open the trunk) The sway bars on the 05+ are also more stiff than the previous years. 05+ has interior updates which is gonna come to personal taste and besides that its all the same for the most part.

as far as which mods and brand names to go with I think it depends really on what type of mods your looking for.

Welcome to Driver. Rev-up motors have just a little bit more HP than the non-revups. As for mods you can look on this site and find plenty (even more when you sign up for a Premier Membership). You want big names...you've got them....Stillen, Tein, StopTech, APS, JIC, GT Spec, Greddy, Volk, SSR, IForged, Seibon, VIS, INGS+1, Top Secret, Turbonetics, HKS, AAM, just to name a few. The Infiniti platform has tons of big name companies that offer plenty of aftermarket parts (check out our marketplace to get a feel)

I believe the size of the manifold. search for MREV2 and youll see what im talking about. MREV2 is a mod for the revup motor guys that increases the amount of air taken in. Paired with a ISO thermal spacer and this mod is good for ~15hp or so is claimed.

as far as price range (i'd like your guys' input btw) i'm currently looking at 04-06's in the 13-17k range pricewise. My eye has been caught by an 06 silver over black 6mt with only 20k miles on her, the dealership is asking 16995 which I know i can negotiate down. The same dealership also has about 15 other G coupes in various colors and options in my price range. i know the 06 is a good deal. There's also on the lower end an 04, black on black (and a silver/black i believe) 40 or 50k miles, i think one has nav, 6mt and they're asking around 14 or 15. Decent prices? Obviously I'd rather spend the extra grand and get that 06 but i just want to make sure they sound ok.

youll thank yourself for going with the 06+ Thats not a bad price at all from a dealer w/ 20k for 17k. You can KBB it just to reasure yourself.
