Does anybody smell anything like sth is burning under the hood? Mine baby is G35 Coupe, A/T. It happens only when turn off the car. But fortnately I didn't see any smoke or oil leakage. Dealer told me it's normal since the engine is new so it will get very hot easily, especially during the break-in period...but they will check it out for me...

Anybody has the same experience with your coupe?

 

I think almost everyone here has mentioned it. The smell was there for about a month on mine. Now it's gone. Seems like someone mentioned that on the new infiniti vehicles there is a thin coat of some type of protectant sprayed on for protection during transport. It evenually burns off though.

Yeah, smelled like a burnt clutch to me.. and I have an automatic. It burns off after a few hundred miles. As mentioned, it's a protective coating. It protects the exhaust system from the salt air during transport.

Yeah, I know what smell your referring to. Usually, I smell it after turning the car off when TipTronic feature was used.

 

i never had the smell from the engine but had one from the exhoust it smelled like cerramics were being but it was not the best smell. It went away about 500 miles or so.

 

Its normal and will go away, as others have said, in about a month. Its part of the new car experience.

 

I still get the funk sometimes after running it hard and then, say, having to stop at a stop light for a while...and I have just under 9000 miles on her.

 

Yeah, I also noticed that a lighter version of the smell comes back after an aggressive driving spree. I have 3200mi on mine.

relax... i jus got my baby and it is doing it 2 me too... it does it to everyone.. give it time and it will go away..
