Should I get a G35

Should I get a G35
WEll I am in love with the car, have not driven it yet but either way I think it will be my next car. Currently I have the Acura TL-S lease is up soon so my shopping has begun. As I said te G35 is my top choice. I would like to receive some feedback from some of you on this car. What do you think? Are you happy? What should I be looking for in packages? Right now I am happy with the G35 coupe with manual tranny, bose system and color red. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Re: Should I get a G35
You should definitely get it. Its noiser than your TLS and the ride quality is probably worse (especially with 18s) but I have never grinned so much in my life since I got the car. It really makes driving a true pleasure in life. The bose system is decent (not great) but probably equal to your TLS (not the new TL). There are issues with the car such as the windows and compression rod (alignment) but can be fixed under warranty. I find Infiniti service to be of superior quality.
I think the Red is the most beautiful color (even though I didn't get it for fear of tickets). I recommend waiting for the 2005 because they will have an additional 15 hp added (295) and a better manual tranny too.

GO FOR IT!
I have had a great selection of sports cars over the years: Acura NSX, Lambo Diablo, 300ZX Twin Turbo, Prelude Si. The G35 coupe puts a grin on my face much the same way the NSX did. I just love the car.
No real complaints, but minor nitpics. I wish the driver's seat had a memory setting. Wish I could tilt the rear view mirror up a little higher (I'm 6'2" and it's just a smidge too low). I don't care for the volume control setting to be on the right side of the stereo...but these are minor. The car, for the money, is the best sports car under $40k.

NO. IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA TO GET G35. DO MORE RESEARCH TO COMPARE OTHER CARS. G35 HAVE TOO MANY PROBLEMS AND A LOT OF FEATURES AREN'T AVAILABLE LIKE MEMORY SEATS, HEATED MIRRORS, AND ETC. IT'S A MISTAKE TO BUY G35 NO MATTER WHAT.

Then tell me why it wins so many awards including car of the year and best coupe of the year (even at its 3rd year after introduction). I bet you don't even own a G35, i've had my car for 1 year and not having any problems at all! (not even rattling problem, it's cover by warranty anyways) Memory seats are nice, but why need them while you won't let anybody else drive it? Now, tell me any car with the same price range that has the same feature as the G, but with 295 HP and around 280 lb-ft torque.

Thank you for all your input. I will definately wait for the 2005, any ideas when they are due out? One last question, which package includes the rear trunk spoiler or can this be added without a package. Oh also if anyone is leasing out there, what are the average lease payments? Thanks again

Re: Should I get a G35
Upon thinking of buying anycar you MUST test drive it in 1st!
G35's have some of the worse MT trannies ever made. Going thru now is being called the 8th revision on the 05' and still with many problems. Mine in fact is getting worse with the months. And i'v gone thru tons of problems with my car including suspension, ecu, tires, brakes, tranny and god knows how many more to come...
As a car for driving around town and to work its fine and worth its cash but for further fun, there are used e46 M3's you can pick up for the same price.

Re: Should I get a G35
This seems to be a largely subjective opinion. I've driven MANY manual cars, and believe the G is one of the best. It's a different feel than most others, because of its direct linkage (a bit more vibration, more effort to shift). Mine's gotten easier to shift with time. Wouldn't change a thing.
Haven't had a problem yet.

A friend of mine has the new TL. While the DVD-Audio is cool, the system has very weak bass response, much worse than the G35 Bose. It would probably sound really good with the addition of something like a Basslink, though. DVD-Audio itself is neat, however, a cool use of it is to burn what's basically a 50+ track CD audio disc onto DVD-Audio. Gets around the lack of MP3 playback.
Get the new TL if you want a cool technologically advanced interior. Get the G35 Coupe if you want a hot sports car. .

Re: Should I get a G35
Its a great car. Not perfect, but still great.
I've had a few minor annoying problems with mine, like a few interior rattles, a creaking moonroof seal (fixed myself with silicone lube), power window failure, and CD changer failure.
On the bright side, the Infiniti dealer service has been superb. They really treat you right, and fix it right. Its first class treatment, and really adds to the ownership experience.
Also, the car just looks so damned good, and drives and performs so well, that I forgive it for its little problems. It can get away with a lot before I get upset with it.
