Any one got any opinions on the new mercedes 05 slk 230?? I was deciding between the g35c and 330ci, didnt like the 330ci so it was clear that i was getting the g35 but then i found out about the new slk. The price for the 05 g35c and 05 slk230 shouldnt be that different. but the only thing i dont like is the 2 seater vs. 4 seater. Let me know what your opinions are.

 

I think thats it's too small and not really fast enough to keep me happy. I'm sure it handles well. They really aren't even the same class of car though. Do you want a 2 seat roadster or a sports coupe. If you're looking for a roadster at that price you should go check out a Z4. Performs much better, and doesn't look quite as girly as the SLK.

If its the hardtop convertible, its a cool car. You should get the 05 SLK! Luxury and convertible fun.

the slk is a womens vehicle. dont get that. Z4 or G35 Coupe!

 

Before I ordered my coupe I drove an 04 slk.It is cramped with the top up and has no *****.Also no stick available.
For 05 the changes are great;increase in HP,Stick available,new body style.I'll check it out but the price will probably be in the 50-60k range.
Also Mercedes reliability has been questionable lately.

z4 a little too much money, but personally not a fan of z4's either. the slk yes hardtop convertible being a huge plus, but i agree it does look like a womens car, plus i would do F/I upgrades to the G, so i think i would be better off there. none the less slk 05 looks cool, just too small and feminine for me i think, still under consideration

 

also price is not 50-60k, its still in the low 40k range, and the G is like high 30K low 40K after tax and stuff fully loaded. so the slk would be an extra couple of grand that could be used to updgrade the G.

I'm not a big fan of Mercedes quality of late. Case in point, a buddy of mine has a new SL55 that has been in and out of the shop. The latest problem is that something broke while he was lowering his hardtop. It got stuck in mid-travel so obviously he couldn't drive it. Whatever the part is that broke it's going to take a MONTH to get in so he's trying to get Mercedes to pay his rather sizeable car payment while his car is sitting around.

Well you guys havent seen the new SLK then lol.... First of all, the lowest model of the SLK is the 350 now, and it will have 268 BHP V6 hp and 260+ torque in that small car, and it looks great!! It will be very quick, unlike the slk 320's! In the european car mag sitting in frotn of me it says it will do 0-60 in 5.5 auto and 6 spd. manual will be offered as well, it also says its .3 sec's faster than a boxter s and half a second faster than a Z4.. Hey ya i have been following that slk 230 for a long time, we were suppose to get the slk 230 in '03 but we decided to wait for the new body in 2005. Actually the 2005 model is slk 320 and a few months later they will come out with the 230 i4. That 320 has 268 hp v6 and you can get the 7 speed automatic. They said the a/t is actually faster than the manual...crazy huh ^_^. Anyways that car comes out in september. I plan to get it in december. Plus that car is just plan awsome b/c it's a hard top convertable and looks like the SLR. I'll give ya pics when i get the car...(side by side with my g35 too)

I wouldn't take a SLK230, but I would trade my G35 for the SLK 350 in a heartbeat. I don't think my parents would be willing to find the solid 30k extra tho.

It has like 270 hp, new Mercedes engine V6 DOHC 24 valve instead of the usual SOHC 18 valve. It weighs as much as a 350Z track (about 3200) and it should handle much better than a G35 (shorter, lighter). Plus it will be put together with Mercedes quality. Not to mention all the awesome stuff that comes with having a Benz. New air scarf technology, HARDTOP convertible (for those of us who hate the soft top look) big brakes, 18" wheels, it also has the SLR McClaren looking nose. Everything I ever wanted and more in a sports car. OH. Not to mention only 2 seats! Gahhh I wish they made a 2 seater G35.

Dude, not sure you noticed but this is the G35C forum. If you're not buying or have a G, what's the point? Try them all out and when you finally decide the G is better, then tell us about it. Sorry, doesn't seem like a relevent post.

 

I only see chicks driving SLKs.

I don't ever remember ever seeing a guy driving one.

The new revised model is very sweet though.
