Stinky-G

During the summer I have my A/C on about 80% of the time. When I shut it off and the MODE is on vent it seems to blow stinky air. Anyone else have this problem or know what it might be?

Re: Stinky-G

I always shut off the a/c but leave the fan blowing a couple of minutes before I shut off the car. Helps a bit by getting rid of some of the moisture, but it still has a bit of smell.

I do the same. And I know theres no way my cabin air filter needs to be changed because it happened from day 1, and it only has like 7500 miles on it.

Especially if I'm going to park in my garage where its cooler, I'll turn the A/C off early. By time I get home, it just starts blowing hotter air and it smells way better next time.

Re: Stinky-G

Sometimes, cars get a 'stinky' problem due to water build up inside the air cond ducts due to condensaton. Typical in humid climates. Usually the problem is a plugged drain line, or a low spot that the drain line is not reaching. Your service guys should be able to discuss water accumulation issues, if that is indeed the cause. Again this is my 'guess'. Good luck.

I use to have the same probem.

To avoid this make sure you don't use recycle mode when the AC is on. Mine tends to automatically set to this mode when AC is activated, thus I have to manually turn it off everytime.

or

5-10mins before turning off your AC, turn off recycle mode to clear any build up.

Hope this helps cause I hated the smell too!

Re: Stinky-G

Mine has done this from day one also (it's kind of a musty/mildewy smell), but the only thing the dealer will do is tell me to turn the A/C off and leave the fan on for a few blocks before turning the car off. I suppose it works...in the rare moments where I actually remember to do that! They say all Infinitis are like that; must be a design flaw (?) 'cuz I've never experienced this in any other car I've drove or ridden in, domestic OR import.
