I'll never understand what some people have against overlays. I have 'em on my G and I had 'em on my last car, too. If done properly, they look great -- and they're easily removed.
If you don't have much experience with painting, and you give it a try -- you can get some awful results.
You can always go to your local tint shop to get 'em to tint your tails for you. That's what I did. They tinted my tail lights, third brake light, and sidemarkers. And my windows too, of course. Duh.

That's definitely true. But like I said, unless you definitely know what you're doing as far as painting, or have someone that you trust with the painting .. overlays are the safer route to go, and it's reversed much more easily.
Not everyone wants the completely blacked-out look, though. I didn't. Less trouble from the cops if you're still able to see some of the red. Around here, at least.
And you CAN go black-out with tail lights, it's just a matter of using a darker film.

Yea but still bottom line is that overlays will never ever look as good. I know because I had overlays on my tails before I got these on both my 350z and G. Theres no arguement there. Im not saying theyre no good.. im just saying paint is better.
I don't get any trouble w cops either.. but I guess that comes down to where you live.
