New G35 owner, baaaaad gas mileage

Hi all, I just joined the site today to poke around and see if anyone else here has the same complaint I do. I just bought an 05 coupe with 30k miles in charcoal grey with black interior. The car is fully loaded including the sport package and navi and although its an automatic for the price of 15k I couldnt be picky. Anyhow I have had the car for two weeks now and I travel 63 miles round trip on a daily basis to work and I am not only suprised but also very dissapointed with the gas mileage. I seem to be averaging close to 220 miles a tank and with our gas prices going up for unknown and unjustifiable reasons this car lacks serious performance to gas mileage ratio. I could problably say that a full sized SUV gets comparable gas mileage but this is a small V-6 powered coupe? The car was female owned and very well taken care of prior to me, any reason for the unquenchable thirst?

gas is not that bad.. but ... a g for 15k... jesus.. now i see why honda owners are getting g's.... i'd rather have a 5yr old g than a brand new honda... but you have to understand.. it's not a 15k car that fills up with 20 bux and drives 300mi.. you just bought a 40k car... 1 week of driving and u are already complaining how you cannot afford it.. haha..

Your right I cant complain about the price of the car, poor girl lost her job and I chewed the price way down. Just didnt expect the poor mileage. I could see if the car was fast but its as sporty as the 2004 Acura TL i had but the TL had better mileage. I have a 78 Trans am that runs on 110 octane and gets about 6 mpg maybe I should alternate haha

Yes, I only use Sunoco ultra 93 or Shell V-power. The car runs fine with no check engine light or service light. Seems to be a common complaint on this site though.

I havent clocked it exactly yet. I am doing half tank intervals to determine which fuel it runs better on, either Shell V-power or Sunoco ultra 93 and I seem to get two round trips to work and back with a half a tank which is about 120-125 miles

i'm almost about to buy a G and my buddy has one and i've driven his multiple times and trust me
this car is much more sporty than the TL, i used to own a 2004 tl
with a cat back exhaust, intake, throttle body spacer
and i still feel like a stock G is faster, or it at least feels faster

Ya know...I had a bunch of things typed out and decided to be nice:

Learn how to calculate gas mileage.

I can get 400 highway easy, usually fill up when the light just goes on, fill up 15 gallons, its usually around 330miles. 22mpg with mixed highway and city. Not too bad.

OP try reseting your ECU
