sound so loud when the cars cold, but once it warms up the intake quiets down a lot? It roars if its cold and you get on it, but once the cars up to operating temp it growls as normal. Does the intake tube warm up and expand or something?

That's exactly what happens, it makes a LOUD vibrating roaring noise thats totally normal, just dont get on your car when its that cold until it warms up!!

Speed of sound changes with temperature [and humidity] as does the tuning effects in plenum/runners. 4.5% with a 25C change.

If you get on it while cold you feel the gears switch at different times then pull you into the gear so rough and powerfull, at least in my car it does and for the autos!! Sometiems its a bad feeling though, like it feels like it throws off the gearing or timing of the auto switches so weird! All of the time i use MM anyway, Martin.
