Question Popping noise while slowing down

Hi everyone .. on yesterday morning I just got my car back after failing the OC testing and I now have a new bottom end .. I am about 80 miles into this and I was told the "breaking in" process will take about 1,400 miles and to not go passed 3,500 rpm or to floor the gas pedal. I've been following this but I now have a new noise and I'm almost certain it's related to the dealership putting this new engine in, yet I don't know what it is ..

If I accelerate to about 30-35 and come to up a stop light or stop sign, I naturally begin to slow down but a LITTLE bit after I slow down passed 20 mph, I hear a pop noise coming from the front left of my car .. I can hear and FEEL it .. I doesn't happen over bumps or ANY other time .. it's only while slowing down and either at 20 mph or just a tad slower than it .. while slowing I'm not pushing in any other pedal besides the brake and I'm not even pushing the brake hard .. also, sometimes just PUSHING the brake it feels like .. I don't know, like it's a click or a pop but definitely not normal .. it's sort of like a MINI or MINOR pop but nothing like the noise I hear just shy of 20 mph .. I'm not sure if this is a brake issue because the noise only happens then .. I'm just wondering if it could be the breaks or some sort of suspension issue .. the car rides great otherwise ..

any ideas would be much appreciated since I had to go 7 days without the car already and have only had it back for a day .. thanks

thanks soo much for the reply !! I read through that other thread but I think our problems are a little different .. yours seemed to happen while accelerating and mine only happens when I am braking and when the mph (while braking) goes under 20 mph .. someone I know said it could be a strut working itself in and I'd LIKE to think it has something to do with the front left axle working itself back in due to the engine being changed .. I just don't know .. thanks for the try though

Does this happen in any particular gear or RPM? Or is it purely related to speed

I'm assuming it doesn't happen if you put it into neutral and brake?

Thanks for the replies .. I was originally going to take it back to the dealer on Friday but I noticed today that the tech completely effed up my center console finisher and made it so that everything was loose, dirty and my shift boot would not stay in place .. so, I decided to go today ..

went there and the tech put it right on the lift after taking it for a short ride .. he retightened "every nut and bolt" which make me skeptical at first .. I asked him if anything felt "loose" at all and he said it all felt good .. after that I spoke with the head man and after some arguing he decided to order me a new finisher for free (which I will be getting Friday) .. needless to say, the noise seems to be completely gone so I'm guessing the original tech didn't completely tighten everything and it made for some interesting noises .. thanks for the help and I appreciate the replies ..

Sounds like you know your way around some of these posts. Maybe you can point me in the right direction. 04 G35x, has a front driverside clunking noise when going over any bumps, but stops the noise if I presss the brake lightly. I have already replaced the sway bar link, brakes & rotors, the caliper, the front springs, and the wheel bearing. The only things left to replace is possibly the strut and/or compression rod. What do you think, and ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!
